ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:

Wu-Tang Clan, consisting of RZA, Method Man, GZA, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Raekwon, U-God and the late Ol ‘Dirty Bastard, released one of the most important genre albums Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chamber) in 1993. Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Nas, Mobb Deep and many others have used rhymes and samples produced by Wu Tang Clan in their songs. Through their originality and innovation, uncompromising and thoughtful rhymes, as well as production that is constantly setting new standards in the genre, they have created an army of followers and protégés, once called Wu-Tang Killa Bees, consisting of hundreds of rappers, producers and music publishers in the mid-90s. As a result, some of the close associates of the WTC were Redman, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, Erick Sermon, Pete Rock, as well as the aforementioned Nas and Mobb Deep.

Perhaps the main reasons why the Wu-Tang Clan are almost always located at the No. 1 spot on any best rap & hip-hop artist in history charts (e.g., by Rolling Stone magazine) are the power, personality and character of each individual member of the legendary collective. Every rapper from the Clan can hold his own against any other current rap star. Never before or since has a rap or a hip hop group had so many equally strong personalities as the mighty Wu. If Terraneo 2012, with the performance of The Roots, presented what was perhaps the most important hip hop live band in the past 20 years, then this year’s arrival of Wu-Tang Clan presents the most important hip hop super-group in the history of this music genre. For their quality and talent Wu Tang Clan won numerous awards, from winning a Grammy (Method Man) to being awarded the title of the most influential hip hop band in the last 10 years by NME.

In April of this year they held a phenomenal comeback concert at the Coachella Festival, their new album called A Better Tomorrow is scheduled for release in July and in August, for the first time in this area, Wu-Tang Clan is coming to Terraneo Festival!

Aloe Blacc is an American nu-soul, r’n’b and hip hop performer and musician. Born in the state of California, to Panamanian parents, he began his musical career in 1995 as a rapper in the hip hop duo Emanon. In the late nineties, he collaborated with the acclaimed French hip hop and nu jazz group Jazz Liberatorz. Although he was active in Emanon, in 2003 he started his solo career and released his first long play album, Shine Through. Blacc’s career took off globally only after the release of his second studio album, Good Things in 2010, and the first single from the album, I Need a Dollar, became a massive hit across Europe, UK and Australia, achieving gold and platinum status. The aforementioned song is the intro song to the HBO hit series How to Make It in America. Aloe Blacc has performed on the stages of the world’s biggest festivals such as Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, North Sea Jazz Festival, etc. We should also mention another song from his latest album, the excellent single Loving You is Killing Me, with which Blacc proved how confidently he follows in the footsteps of the ‘60s soul music greats.

The Cribs is an English trio which consists of brothers Gary, Ryan and Ross Jarman, and from 2008 to 2011 Johnny Marr, the former guitarist of The Smiths, was a permanent member of the band. The Cribs appeared on the British music scene in 2002, when the media named them and The Libertines leaders of the British response to the new wave of American alternative rock bands which were very popular at the time. Still, it took several years for The Cribs to experience great commercial success, which they achieved in 2008 with the release of their third album titled Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever. From their appearance on Conan O’Brien’s and David Letterman’s talk shows to main stage slots and headline appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury, T in the Park, Isle of Wight, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Primavera, Sziget, etc., The Cribs have slowly, but surely outgrown the boundaries of the UK and have become one of the most significant British alternative rock bands in the last 10 years. The fact that the legendary Sex Pistols invited them as guests to their 30th live anniversary of the album Never Mind the Bollocks at the Brixton Academy only confirms their status. The Cribs have so far released five studio albums and one best-of compilation. In 2012, NME magazine awarded them the prestigious “Outstanding Contribution to Music” award for their special contribution to music.

Rainer Limpinsel aka Mambo Kurt is a distinctive performer from Hagen, Germany, with an army of diehard fans, amongst who he enjoys cult status. Seemingly innocently sitting at home by his organ, this one-man show performs famous rock hits in bossa nova, samba and polka style, and sometimes even brings his eighty year-old piano teacher Heidi Schultz to sing Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols or Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones. If you like strange things, still remember

Dana Deacon’s performance from the first Terraneo or you’re simply a Rammstein fan, prepare yourself for the positive delirium of Mambo Kurt’s performance at this year’s Terraneo.

Bosnian Rainbows is an American alternative rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2012. The band consists of former The Mars Volta members, Omar Rodríguez-López and Deantoni Parks, alongside Le Butcherettes vocalist Teri Gender Bender and Nicci Kasper (keyboards). The band’s influences and aesthetic remained the same as in all Rodríguez-López writings, but songs are more to-the-point. The debut self-titled album by Bosnian Rainbows will be released worldwide in June 2013.

Pink noise might be the best description for the music that young Danish band Pinkunoizu perform, although we say that it is an exotic, wild and original combination of post punk, pop, jazz and Krautrock. Otherwise very reserved when  describing themselves, Pinkunoizu consider the following bands as their role models: Stereopathetic Soulmanure, Akron/Family, Bill Callahan/(Smog)/Smog, Glenn Branca, Jim O’Rourke, Marc Ribot, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, Pavement, Set fire to flames, Sun City Girls, Boredoms, Cambodian Rocks, Cluster, Devo, Djivan Gasparyan, Anti-Pop Consortium, The Fugs, Do Make Say Think, Frankie Sparo, Can, Free Kitten, John Holt, Faust, Karen Dalton, Magnetic Fields, Matmos, Harry Belafonte, Merzbow, Mr. Bungle, Panda Bear, Nearly God, Odetta, Guided by voices, etc. In any case, it will be interesting to listen to this quartet from the north of Europe this summer, whose musical bus of wonders will visit the legendary Glastonbury Festival and, appropriately, the cult Danish Roskilde, as well as Terraneo.

KOAN Sound is an electronic duo which consists of Will Weeks and Jim Bastow from Great Britain. Until 2005 their musical beginnings were characterized by acoustic riffs, and then they dove into electronic music through the songs of bands such as Noisia and The Prodigy. Last year, with their DJ sets, they toured throughout Europe and North America and won the “Best Breakthrough Artist” award at the Dubstep Music Awards.

Originally from Montreal, but currently based in London, Anastacia and Vivie-Ann, under the name Blond:ish, have fulfilled their childhood dreams of DJ-ing at a global level and proving that they don’t fit the quintessential stereotype. Fuelled by their sharp dance music instincts and technical flair, Blond:ish have charmed the music industry.

Duncan Sheik is an American songwriter and composer. In the beginning of his singing career he achieved success with his debut single Barely Breathing, which entered the U.S. Billboard top 20 in 1996 and stayed there for 55 weeks! Later he composed songs for film and Broadway productions. Among his most famous works is music for the Broadway sensation Spring Awakening, that won him 2 Tony Awards and a Grammy.

Eyesburn are a Serbian band that combines hard punk and punk metal with reggae rhythms. In the band’s ten-year existence, there have been a lot of line-up changes. In 2011 they finally formed the line-up with which they perform today. In September 2012 they appeared at the Warrior’s Dance Festival, organized by The Prodigy and Exit Festival, in Belgrade’s Kalemegdan.

Milan Stankovic, better known under the pseudonym Sevdah BABY, is a Serbian musician, DJ and producer. He gained wider popularity with remixes of famous old Serbian hits such as Three kisses, etc. Under the pseudonym Gross Van Daal he has participated in three international remixing competitions, winning twice.

Vlasta Popić is a punk rock band from Varaždin. Combining raw energy, original texts, great rock riffs and noise partitions, they truly are a breath of fresh air on the local scene. At the beginning of 2011 they were named demo band of the year by the users of the independent music website Terapija.net.

Straight Mickey and the Boyz is a young band from Belgrade. They are described as an explosive rock and roll band, with raw and genuine energy during their live performances; they are a band with a distinctive attitude and marked musical competence.

Band Pešes (a slang word in Herzegovina for five or six of something) owes its name to the fact that the band’s line-up and the number of its members has changed several times since their formation. Their songs are based on a type of alternative grunge groove, while the theme of the songs relies heavily on the state of a man in a small community, interpersonal relationships and various abstract visions and events.

Collective Chew the fat! Croatia is synonymous with fresh parties, cutting edge beats and good, honest, unpretentious fun. Members of the collective are DJ Yesh, DJ DMT, MC Tono Tuoro te VJ – Polygon.
