Bestfest Romania announce first acts

Pulp, Garbage, Stanton Warriors and more

B’ESTFEST SUMMER CAMP is the newest, alternative European festival taking place in a beautiful park on the shores of Pasarea Lake, close to the capital city of Bucharest in Romania. The 3 day event running from 6 to 8 July boasts a variety of artists and activities with tickets from only 60 EUROS making it great value for money too. The first acts to be announced include Pulp, Garbage, Kreator, Dope D.O.D, Shelah Sue Andy C and Stanton Warriors.

B’ESTFEST SUMMER CAMP features top international artists alongside local and regional favourites across 4 stages with numerous other entertainment and sports areas, bars & terraces that feature live shows, DJ sets, unconventional art exhibitions, creative workshops, chill out zones, arts&crafts corner, well as a special designated place for eco-green activities and NGO’s programs there really is something for everyone.

The main and the secondary stage schedules will alternate, giving the crowd the best mix of alternative, indie, pop-rock and fusion music. Already confirmed for 2012 are the cult Brit-pop legends Pulp, the alternative and post-grunge icons Garbage, Selah Sue – Europe’s reggae-soul phenomenon, Caro Emerald – one of the chart favorites of recent years, the acoustic-pop singer-songwriter Milow, The Qemists – live drum’n’bass at its finest, Skindred – bringing that incredible mix of metal, hip-hop and reggae, Dope DOD – the Dutch experimental hip-hop group that awed acts such as Limp Bizkit or Korn, the feel-good Neapolitan gipsy punk representatives, Mala Vita.

The Dance Arena combines both live acts and DJ sets serving up the best of breakbeat, drum’n’bass, dubstep, electro and house. Taking to the decks will be Drum’n’bass, pioneer Andy C, breakbeat duo Stanton Warriors and the dubstep revelation Modestep.

The Aftershock, stage is dedicated to the rock, punk, hardcore and metal fans featuring acts such as Kreator, one of Europe’s best thrash metal acts, Moonspell – the Portuguese finest when it comes to gothic fusioned with death, doom or black metal elements, the death metal kings of Obituary, Meshuggah – extreme metal at it’s best, or Tristania, Norway’s proud messengers of gothic metal.

The festival organisers are also keen to continue environmental friendly initiatives with the support of one of Romania’s most renowned artists & eco-activists. The ‘B’ESTFEST goes green’ project aims to inform and co-interest all the involved parties (from the suppliers, sponsors and production team to the audience) on eco-green issues and to reduce the effects that events can have on the environment. Amongst last year’s initiatives was to encourage the audience to use public transport (with special bus services), as well as a rent-a-bike and car pooling scheme. The main headquarters of the program was the Green Village, a 100% self-sustained area within the festival site, which hosted various NGO’s, workshops and art expos (art made of waste), where everyone interested was able to get information and tips for a “greener” behaviour.

As well as the variety of entertainment and great value ticket price, the food and drink is also cheap with 1 cold beer for approximately 1 EURO and a food court featuring traditional restaurants, enabling festival goers to sample delicious local Romanian dishes. So, if you like traveling, discovering new places, meeting new people and going to the craziest parties, but still want to keep some money in your pocket then B’ESTFEST SUMMER CAMP is well worth considering. As an added bonus you get to visit Dracula’s homeland (and actually his tomb is nearby the festival site!), in one of the coolest capital cities of Europe.
