Kicking off June 21-23 in Reykjavík’s stunning Laugardalur hot spring valley, Iceland’s biggest music festival, Secret Solstice, has revealed its new Friday headlining act and the performer for its exclusive Into The Glacier side event along with releasing daily set times available first in its new festival app. Performing on opening night of the midnight music festival, 5x BRIT Award nominee and multi-platinum DJ/producer Jonas Blue will headline the Secret Solstice main stage on Friday, June 21.
Taking a lucky 100 attendees deep within the ice walls of Langjökull glacier, U.K. dance music legend Mr. G will perform a 7-inch / 45 vinyl only set for Secret Solstice’s only Into The Glacier side event for 2019.
Also announced are the daily schedules and set times for Secret Solstice’s sixth edition, which include the festival’s new after hours programming, ‘Ragnarök,’ in downtown Reykjavík at the Hard Rock Cafe. Festival-goers can conveniently plan and schedule their summer solstice weekend in the new 2019 app (available for iOS and Android) to catch acts like Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, Black Eyed Peas, Patti Smith and Band, Yxng Bane, Morcheeba, Foreign Beggars, Pussy Riot, Marc Kinchen (MK), James Zabiela, Dillon Cooper, Desert Hearts crew, Boy Pablo and many more. Hosting an eclectic lineup for international talent across various genes and sold out side events in a glacier and lava tunnel, Secret Solstice offers the complete package for music festival lovers and adventure seekers of all kinds.
A global DJ superstar and critically acclaimed songwriter, Jonas Blue has become a mainstage pop powerhouse since his career took off in 2015. With over 7.5 billion streams, past collaborations with Becky Hill, Joe Jonas, Rita Ora, and Tiësto, and following the release of his debut album Blue in late 2018, Jonas Blue will make his Icelandic debut on opening night of Secret Solstice 2019.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, Mr. G (live) has not only won the support of dedicated fans worldwide but also counts fellow DJs and producers as some as his biggest supporters. Renowned for his live sets, the sold out event will see the U.K.-born artist perform a special 7-inch / 45 vinyl only set 500 meters deep within the Langjökull glacier.
Taking over two floors of the globally recognized Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Reykjavík, Secret Solstice is excited to introduce its new after hours programming for its 2019 attendees. Continuing the festivities in the epicenter of Reykjavík’s nightlife scene, Ragnarök will have its dancefloor going from 11pm-4:30am on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday night will close out the festival’s programming concluding from 11pm-3:30am. With select artists playing in addition to their festival sets at Laugardalur, Friday night’s programming sees Second State techno signee Chris Hirose, Italy’s Luca Donzelli, Berlin favorite ALXJ along with Iceland’s Casanova and KrBear and more. Night two attendees of Ragnarök will be pleased to see second sets from Area10 label head Marc Kinchen (MK) and Berghain regular Henning Baer along with sets from Icelandic deep house act BenSöl, the U.K.’s Carly Wilford, No. 19 Music co-head Nitin, and more. The closing of Secret Solstice 2019 and final night of Ragnarök will see a second dose of the Desert Hearts crew with Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, and Marbs with Bill Patrick plus an extra set from U.K. dance music wizard James Zabiela and more.
