European Festival body Yourope announces partnership with international anti-poverty platform

Global Citizen (globalcitizen.org), the content, action and event platform, and Yourope, the European Festival Association, announce an exciting and unique partnership to build the movement to end extreme poverty.

The partnership will see Yourope using its association with major European music festivals to promote the online platform and help drive sign up’s of “global citizens” – people who want to learn about and act to end, extreme poverty.

Announcing the partnership, Christof Huber, general secretary of Yourope said:
“Yourope represents over 80 festivals and associated industry members in 26 European countries with a direct connection to millions of young people. Global Citizen is a fantastic initiative, which focuses on connecting with young people around the world. It’s an honor to be work with Global Citizen and connect them with our European festival family to reach the European youth to help end extreme poverty in the world.”

Speaking about the partnership, Global Citizen’s Director of Europe Stephen Brown said:
“This is an incredibly exciting partnership. Our roots are in music –inspiring people to take action by offering them rewards to music festival and gigs in return. We know that if we’re going to end extreme poverty, we have to reach out to all European citizens, not just those already engaged in these issues, and music is an incredible way to do that.”

Global Citizen is already a well established brand in the US and the UK but is now focused on building the movement across Europe. Its unique action-reward mechanism has already inspired millions of actions from global citizens and secured numerous wins for the world’s poorest people.

It is also responsible for The Global Citizen Music Festival in New York’s Central Park every September. Performers include – Jay Z, Beyonce, No Doubt, Neil Young, Foo Fighters and Stevie Wonder – and in will be involved in a music event in Munich in June.

Yourope will encourage its festival members to promote Global Citizen through offering free tickets to those who take action, on-site promotion and communication with it’s attendees.
