The Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation is delighted to announce ADE’s multidisciplinary collaboration with Amsterdam 750, marking the city’s 750th anniversary in a joint celebration of Amsterdam’s rich history and music culture. ADE 2025 will transition directly into Amsterdam 750’s apotheosis, creating a celebratory bridge between two milestones.
A shared celebration of city and culture
On October 27, 2025, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. The city has marked this milestone with a year full of festivities, culminating in the official birthday, which falls just one day after ADE. In tribute to the shared spirit of the city’s communities and cultures, ADE and the City of Amsterdam have crafted an integrated program that sees ADE wrap up a year of celebrations:
ADE Arts & Culture x 750
Under ADE Arts & Culture, the crossover platform that blends music with visual arts, performance, and immersive experiences, ADE launches a week of ADE Arts & Culture x 750 specials. Each ADE day will see one dedicated showcase in a variety of the city’s iconic cultural venues. Carefully selected in the spirit of celebrating the diversity of Amsterdam’s many cultures and subcultures, this series represents the togetherness and community connection that make ADE special.
The first confirmed events include two immersive Opening Specials at ARTIS Planetarium, one by synth legend Suzanne Ciani and one with Julius Horsthuis x Rival Consoles. Thursday sees ‘Suriname Rising – 50 Years of Freedom in Music’ at Concertgebouw, a celebration of Surinamese culture combined with electronic influences, Friday kicks off ZERØBPM, a 39.5‑hour ambient meditation marathon with 26 performing artists at Thomaskerk, and Saturday adds a thought-provoking evening on Chinese Club Culture at Wereldmuseum Amsterdam.
To top it all off, Monday, October 27th marks Amsterdam’s official 750th anniversary with a final special entry of ADE x Amsterdam 750: Young Marco, Legowelt & Mary Lake live ambient sessions at Concertgebouw. A special night of live ambient sessions in which the three standout artists step away from the dance floor where each reimagines their performance in an intimate setting; a fitting tribute to the city that has shaped them musically, on the day it turns 750 years old.
ADE Friends x 750
The ADE Friends program is known for its community-driven daytime activities, ranging from social projects to fashion, sports, and lifestyle. For the 2025 edition, ADE is collaborating with Amsterdam 750. The result, ADE Friends x 750, offers residents and visitors a program spanning nearly 130 participating locations and hundreds of events, including in-store DJ sessions, radio livestreams, music-infused sports events, vinyl marathons, and much more. The program is almost entirely free-to-access, serving as an open invitation to all of Amsterdam to join the celebrations and experience some of ADE’s most inspiring community events.
“We are delighted that ADE and their vibrant Friends network celebrate along as we near the end of an unforgettable anniversary year and the city’s actual 750th birthday,” says Sietse Bakker, director of Amsterdam 750.
Amsterdam 750 marks the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam’s official city rights, granted in 1275, with celebrations running from October 27, 2024 through October 27, 2025. The city‑wide anniversary includes a variety of events across neighbourhoods, major festivals like Festival Op de Ring and SAIL Amsterdam, exhibitions, performances, and community activities, culminating in a grand birthday celebration on October 27, 2025.
The complete ADE program will be announced in the coming weeks. Individual tickets and the overarching ADE Pro Pass are available through ADE’s website.
Amsterdam 750
On October 27, 2025, Amsterdam turns 750 years old. The jubilee year Amsterdam 750 began on October 27, 2024 with a grand Opening Concert. Since then, more than 400 large and small activities have taken place, all centred on the past, present, and future of the city. During the final 75 hours of the 750th anniversary, there will be plenty to experience: from 750 specials at ADE to the Great Amsterdam Quiz, a 75-meter cake, storytelling festivals, and communal meals. The celebrations will conclude with the National Celebration of Amsterdam 750 Years, in which Dutch artists will pay musical tribute to the capital on its birthday. This event will be broadcast live on October 27 at 20:30 on NPO 1. More info: www.amsterdam750.nl
