This protocol, which restricts entry to those who have been vaccinated, have antibodies after suffering from Covid-19, or are negative for PCR or rapid antigen testing. It is based on the latest scientific research conducted across Europe, which has shown that with these measures festivals can be the safest gathering places in the country. Last month, EXIT, together with other major Serbian festivals, supported the national youth vaccination campaign. Thanks to the succesfull mass vaccination the general epidemiological situation in Serbia has improved so much that there is decrease in daily numbers by 99 percent in last few months, while Novi Sad itself has been without new infections for several days in a row!
Audience interest in the festival has also exceeded expectations and is heading towards record numbers. Apart from domestic guests, the largest number of visitors is expected from France, Germany, Slovenia, Turkey, Croatia, Hungary and the Netherlands. Almost all foreign citizens need a negative PCR test to enter Serbia, which will also be used to exchange purchased tickets for festival wristbands. EXIT provided free antigen test for all local guests. The organisers announced that the festival tickets will be sold out today, after which only a small limited number of daily tickets will remain on sale on festival gates.
The festival was founded in 2000 in the University Park as a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans. After Milosevic downfall in 2000, EXIT moved to the Petrovaradin Fortress in 2001. Social responsibility is still the key aspect of the festival activities, with the main focus on environmental and humanitarian activities, the creative industries development, as well as regional cooperation. EXIT has been praised by the leading international media as one of the best music festivals in the world. During its 20 year old history, EXIT has hosted internationally acclaimed music stars such as The Cure, The Killers, Guns N’ Roses, Franz Ferdinand, Motörhead, Iggy Pop, David Guetta, Massive Attack, Liam Gallagher, Fatboy Slim, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, The Prodigy, Migos, Sex Pistols, Moby, Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers, Faith No More, LCD Soundsystem, Nick Cave, Jamiroquai, Slayer, Ellie Goulding, Hardwell, Carl Cox, Avicii, Nina Kraviz and many others.

The United Festivals of Serbia, led by EXIT and other key actors of the Serbian festival scene, subsequently launched a national campaign for youth vaccination, thanks to which the process itself accelerated and only 2% remained to the desired goal, while the epidemiological situation is highly improved.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabić has announced that thanks to the successful mass vaccination programme and significantly decreased number of new Covid cases, Serbia plans to fully reopen and get back to normality by 21st June. This gives another strong boost for EXIT to go ahead as planned and become the first major European festival happening this summer. EXIT will collaborate with the Serbian Ministry of Health by donating 3000 tickets for festival opening night to medical workers. Also, the Ministry of Health plans to provide a few thousand vaccine doses for international festival artists and visitors as a way to aid countries that currently have vaccine shortages. Organisers marked this optimistic announcement by confirming new names to the already prestigious line-up with Robin Schultz and Satori live joining the likes of David Guetta, DJ Snake, Tyga, Asaf Avidan, Sabaton, Solomun, Paul Kalkbrenner, Nina Kraviz, Artbat, Boris Brejcha and more.

Thanks to that, we have an ever-improving epidemiological situation and the plan is to open the country for gatherings, concerts and festivals on June 21. In this way, we show not only the care for the event industry that contributes so much to our tourism and economy, but we also fight for the mental health of young people. Also we confirm the strategic commitment of the Government of Serbia towards the development of creative industries. EXIT festival, which our country is globally proud of, happening this July will be one of the important symbols of Serbia's victory over the pandemic”

Serbian festival protocols for safe entry
EXIT and other Serbian music festivals have recently presented a protocol created in line with the latest scientific research across Europe, confirming that, with certain restrictions on entry, the risk of spreading the infection is very low. The protocol thus stipulates that those who have been vaccinated will be able to enter festivals, as well as those who have had COVID-19 in the past or can produce a negative PCR or antigen test. This protocol also represents a strong motivation for young people to get vaccinated.
