ADE GREEN ANNOUNCES PROGRAM

Sam Feldt, W&W, Dave Clarke, Vivie-Ann (Blonde: ISH) and Dominic Peters (Goldfish) to speak at ADE’s dedicated one-day conference for sustainability and social progress in the electronic music industry on Wednesday, October 17, in the DeLaMar Theater.

During ADE, Amsterdam is the centre of the international electronic music scene, attracting over 9,000 influential players and 400,000 festival visitors. ADE Green aims to highlight the latest developments in sustainability and social issues in the music and events industry and use that huge presence to drive change on a large scale. For the sixth year in a row, the conference connects leading thinkers and innovators so that they can share their knowledge and experience through panels, workshops and debates. There are three central themes that ADE Green’s organisers believe define the future of the music and events world.

The Music Industry as an Instrument for Social Change
The panel Rave for a Revolution! outlines the role of electronic music as a powerful political tool that unites people from all backgrounds and gives them a voice. Inspiring examples include the massive rave revolution against police brutality in Georgia (Naja Orashvili, nightclub BASSIANI) and a taboo-breaking dance festival in Uganda (Derek Debru, MTN Nyege Nyege Festival), to the musical call for freedom in Palestinian through underground raves with Jazar Crew. In Artists Empowering their Communities to Create Change we feature artists Sam Feldt (NL), Dave Clarke (UK), Vivia-Ann (SP) from Blond: ISH and Tala Mortada (LEB), all of whom use their status as role models to inspire their supporters to engage in social change. The Power of Brands, with Q-Dance (NL) and Wonderfruit (THAI), focuses on the business world asking whether brands should also use their influence for social or sustainable goals, even if this is outside their core business? Unite the World with Music and Pay it Forward tells the story of Shailendra Singh, who provided education to 128.200 under priveleged children in India through his foundation Guestlist 4 Good, with the help of artists like Hardwell, Martin Garrix and W&W.

Events as a Testing Ground for Sustainable Solutions
Can we call a halt to the massive environmental pollution caused by plastic waste? During The Future of Plastic, Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Water Management Stientje van Veldhoven will be discussing the future of plastic use. Following that, DJ Sam Feldt, together with frontrunners from the event industry (o.a. AB InBev, ADE, AIR Events, Coca-Cola, DGTL, Grolsch, Heineken, ID&T, Lipton en Vrumona) will be launching an initiative that drastically reduces plastic use. In Cup, Cup, Cup from Waste to Resource, representatives from Festival Republic (UK), Pukkelpop (BE) and Amsterdam Open Air (NL) will be revealing how they have implemented a more sustainable drinking bottle system. The transport of festival materials, public, artists and crew also creates considerable CO2 emissions, and In The Elephant in the Room: Transport, Tijl Couzy (Lab Vlieland) will be talking about how he found successful solutions for Into The Great Wide Open. Then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work at the Milan Meyberg workshop, How to Design a Green Strategy.

Innovations Shaping the Future of Events
Festivals and events simply cannot happen without diesel generators, so how do you fix that? During the interactive Power Rewired session, the five best solutions to make your energy plan sustainable are to be presented and discussed. Disruptive startups will get their moment in Six Innovations That Will Change the Event Industry. Ideas include urinals for women (Liquid Gold / Weestand, SA), mobile composting in 24 hours (Lab Vlieland, NL) and a tent that is biodegradable (Comp-a-tent, GB)? Also featured are SeMiLLa (Peter Scheer, NL), a startup that converts sanitary waste water into clean water and fertilizer, Society in Motion (Hooman Nassimi, IR), which gives festivals a role in the integration of newcomers to the jobs market (Jaime de Zwart, NL), and food designer Chloé Rutzerveld, who combines science, technology and nature in her experimental work, will be taking delegates on a journey to the future of our food.

Joycut supporting Morcheeba at Shepherds Bush Empire Show

After performing Robert Smith's Meltdown JoyCut will be back in the London playing Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday October 12th supporting Morcheeba.

Making music for the future, JoyCut weave sounds from a mass of electronics and two drum kits, with orchestral breathings, cinematic saturations, tribal drumming and industrial percussion.

Designing atmospheric layers of sound with a dark edge, the three piece band seamlessly blend big drum rhythms with a twitching melancholy and inventiveness that makes them hypnotic in their power.

Watch them live here: http://bit.ly/AUDIOTREEWir

The last album, PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround took the band to new heights, evidenced by the album’s continued success, with a never-ending tour of over 300 dates across North America, Asia and Europe. With the digital mantra #JoyCutNeverStops the band touched more than 60 countries, culminating in a Top 5 European Talent Exchange Programme [ETEP] position.

Following a successful TEDx performance in Verona and inspired by their recent travels to the East, JoyCut played a sold-out Venice Biennale show debuting their new six-act “Opera” K O M O R E B I, a soundtrack tribute to Japan: a combination of their dramatic music with visual art chapters that created a world to get lost in.

Commitment to environmental issues has also led JoyCut to participate in many sustainability green projects and campaigns. The band are now working on their fourth album and plan to release in 2019.

One of the greatest DJs and producers of all time, and a relentless party maker Fatboy Slim will headline EXIT's whole-new No Sleep Festival on November 15th. This will be an exclusive one-off show simply dubbed as the Warehouse Rave which he describes as "one big intense party with plenty of lasers, dirty lights and smoke machines"!

The music selection will traverse from today's floor killers to classics anthems who are still shaking the biggest crowds around the globe. Known for his true DJ craft, Fatboy Slim brings in his highly energetic sets a spectrum of sounds from across the whole global rave movement that came about exactly 30 years ago in what was the Second Summer of Love in 1988! Acid synths, Latin percussions, piano rolls, string choruses, epic samples and other pillars that hold the global rave movement, will all come together at a party in a New Hangar, which is a mammoth warehouse in the Port of Belgrade, at the banks of Danube. Adding to the overall vibe, the venue is surrounded by cranes, loading docks, rails and a labyrinth of halls, while located just a mile away from Serbian capital's central square!

Joining Fatboy Slim on this rave extravaganza will be a back2back duo made of Life and Death's head honcho and a global electronic music aficionado DJ Tennis together with Berghain's resident and Berlin's techno legend Marcel Fengler! This unusual duo recently indulged in a mind-blowing 9-hour back2back set in the Parisian club Concrete, which was showcased two years in a row at a No Sleep stage of EXIT Festival. When asked to describe the sound of this unexpected duo, DJ Tennis replies: "It's techno but with a twist. Ravey and happy. It's also acidic, with some electro, it's fun. Girls seem to like it!".

ETEP Summer Round up: Hot, hotter, hottest!

With the end of the summer fast approaching, this year’s festival season is slowly coming to an end. Fortunately, it’s not too late to spot the acts participating in The European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP) at festivals near you such as: Festival Number 6, What’s Next in Music, Lollapalooza Berlin, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, Reeperbahn Festival, Waves Vienna, MaMA Event, Bizkaia International Music Experience, Budapest Showcase Hub, Iceland Airwaves, Rolling Stone Weekender, Linecheck and Les Rencontres Trans Musicales de Rennes.

ETEP 2018: a record-breaking year!
Although the ETEP season has not yet come to an end, we’d like to share some of this year’s highlights with you. First and foremost, with 457 shows and counting ETEP has already set a new record. Due to an ever-growing pool of festivals, as well as expansions within festivals outside of Europe such as South-African OppiKoppi and Canadian Music Week (CMW). The European Talent Exchange Programme offers participating artists even better support and opportunities.

Hot, hotter, hottest!
Local heatwaves occurred at festivals that featured ETEP record breaker Superorganism on the bill. With 20 shows, Superorganism broke the record of 17 ETEP bookings that SHAME set last year. If you're not convinced yet: last year, 14 acts were booked for six or more ETEP shows, this year 22 acts got to play six or more festivals.

About ETEP
The European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP) was introduced in 2003 to stimulate the exchange of European artists across Europe. An initiative of ESNS, ETEP facilitates the bookings of European acts on European & international festivals outside their home countries and generates extensive media exposure for these artists in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) public radio stations, the European export offices and national and international media. This way, ETEP aims to give a boost to the international careers of European artists and highlights the participating ETEP festivals.
