ADE Announces 2018 dates
The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s leading event for electronic music, will take place from the 17th to 21st of October, 2018. The organisers are expecting around 400,000 national and international visitors for the 23rd edition.
During ADE there will be a range of activities focused on South Korea. Director Richard Zijlma states: “The South Korean electronic music scene is growing rapidly, thanks to technological innovation and smart crossovers. During ADE we will focus on the very best the country has to offer across a wide range of festival and conference events.”
The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), an initiative of Buma, is the world’s largest club-based festival and conference for electronic music. The event continues to grow and develop each year, with last year’s edition featuring over 2,500 artists and 550 speakers in a record breaking 160 venues. The event attracted visitors from over 90 countries over five days featuring every conceivable aspect of electronic music culture.
The organisers are committed to growing the day and nighttime activities once again in 2018 through established partnerships with cultural institutions, and by adding new pavilions focused on countries. “The addition of pavilions creates extra possibilities to meet and network for music industry professionals but also provides a means to show the innovative power of individual territories in front of an international audience,” states Zijlma.
The complete day and night program will be announced over the coming months. For more information about ADE: https://www.amsterdam-dance-event.nl/about-ade/
The Amsterdam Dance Event is organised by the Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation, an initiative of Buma.

OFF Festival Katowice 2018: Announcing the First Artists
OFF Festival are excited to announce the first confirmed artists. They’re original, they’re psychedelic and they’re kaleidoscopic: Grizzly Bear, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah performing Some Loud Thunder, John Mausand Marlon Williams are coming to Katowice in August. Get your OFF Festival passes now at a special early-bird prices. There’s no better Christmas gift than that!
A truly unique boutique music festival, OFF Festival takes place in Three Pond Valley, Katowice – a beautiful green oasis in the heart of industrial Silesia.
OFF Festival champions musical discovery bringing many acts to Poland for the first time. With an eclectic music policy from the greatest alternative music stars from around the world to the increasingly strong Polish scene, OFF festival is small but mighty and has inspiring music in abundance.
OFF Festival has also been shortlisted for ‘Best European Festival’ award and has been listed by "Time Magazine" and "The Guardian" as one of the top 10 festivals in the world.
The city of Katowice is also worth exploring to get your fix of music and culture so you can not only discover new music, but also a new city. Katowice has recently undergone a massive renovation and revitalization project. It has been also granted the title of UNESCO City of Music. Katowice is the birthplace of two worldwide renowned composers: WojciechKilar and HenrykMikołajGórecki. With it's unique industrial sights it is located near another culturally and historically important city - Cracow.
Grizzly Bear
If there’s one band on the US indie scene today that can blaze new trails in American folk music while remaining faithful to the lessons of the Beach Boys, and that can be as catchy as they are challenging, blending jazz and art rock with pop, then that band is, without a doubt, Grizzly Bear. But it would be unfair to brand this Brooklyn quartet as a group of savvy counterfeiters: their music — a dense web of gripping and at times slightly psychedelic sonic ideas — is a purely original invention. It’s also one that’s garnered rave reviews from audiences and critics alike since their debut Horn of Plenty (2004). Grizzly Bear’s follow-up Yellow House (ranked among the top albums of 2006 by The New York Times and Pitchfork) secured their spot in the top echelons of alternative rock, while later efforts, including this year’s Painted Ruins, only reinforced their status. But as we’ll all see on a warm summer night this August, this bear’s natural habitat is the stage.
John Maus
His music has been described as a mash-up of punk, catchy soundtracks to ‘80s blockbusters, the unremitting poppiness of Moroder, and the spiritual qualities of Medieval and Baroque music. A bit much?Quite the opposite. A philosopher by training, a music theorist by passion, and a practitioner by vocation, John Maus makes music that combines and juxtaposes all of these qualities in a carefully concocted brew. His music — steeped in nostalgia for antiquated sounds, melodies and moods — is considered the progenitor of hypnagogic pop, but John’s not one to let himself be typecast as a stately founding father. His music is alive and in constant flux: an endless stream of surprises, which you’ll hear on his upcoming album Addendum (slated for this spring) and, of course, at his live show in Katowice.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah performing Some Loud Thunder
A powerful bang doesn’t just stun you for a moment — it leaves your sensitive ears ringing for a long time. That’s exactly what happened with Some Loud Thunder, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s sophomore album, released (believe it or not) ten years ago. Alec Ounsworth proved on the record that the band’s two-year-old debut had rightfully made waves on the indie scene. Produced by Dave Fridmann, Some Loud Thunder explored themes from the previous album while branching out in all directions, making this extraordinary release difficult to stomach at first, but ultimately giving us a satisfying experience that has stood the test of time. So here’s what we’re gonna do: we’re going to clap, we’re going to sing, and we’re going to dance — after all, “Satan Said Dance.”
Marlon Williams
Imagine someone who could win over fans of Morrissey, Chris Isaak, Bon Iver and DevendraBanhart. Someone with a voice that could just as easily come from a conceited dandy, a big-city kid, or an effortlessly laid-back, off-the-grid hippy. Marlon Williams, a singer-songwriter from New Zealand with an amazing voice, is just such a person. Recorded and released in his come country, Marlon’s eponymous debut launched him onto the international music scene. Seizing the opportunity, the artist recorded his follow-up album in California with producer Noah Georgeson (the one who worked on Brodka’sClashes). Make Way for Love comes out in February. Everybody make way for Marlon, because he’s coming to Katowice as a star.
As we’ve already announced, the 2018 OFF Festival Katowice will take place August 3–5 at its usual venue, Three Pond Valley. Three-day passes are now available at the OFF Shop for 260 PLN. This price lasts until February 18 or until the first batch of tickets is sold out! Campground tickets are also available for 70 PLN.
Everyone who has been to OFF Festival highlights it's unique atmosphere, which has to be experienced to fully understand what the festival is really about!

“Secret Solstice is shaping up to be one of the standout international events on the summer calendar” - Billboard
[YouTube] Into The Glacier + The Lava Tunnel 2017 Recap - Watch Here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=it5PuAgULHE&feature=youtu.be
Iceland’s Secret Solstice, the bucket-list music festival held during 96 hours of straight sunlight in Reykjavik from June 21-24 2018 announces the return of their signature side events, Into The Glacier and The Lava Tunnel for their fifth edition. Combining a world-class music festival with the many one of a kind attractions that the land of fire and ice has to offer, Secret Solstice will once again prove why it has earned the title of the world’s “most unique festival” thanks to their spectacular event experiences you can’t find anywhere else.
Named by The New York Times as one of “20 Places To Travel In Your 20s”, there are many reasons that Iceland is a popular destination for tourists eager to experience the country’s otherworldly landscape of glaciers and volcanic deserts. Recently nominated by The European Festival Awards, the carbon-neutral festival attracts visitors from across the world keen to dance in the rays of the never setting midnight sun to a world-class and diverse musical lineup whilst experiencing many of the country’s extraordinary environmental attractions. Just outside Reykjavik, visitors can discover supernatural landscapes boasting beautiful waterfalls, icy glaciers, black sand beaches, and vast volcanic fields as well as world-famous sites like the Blue Lagoon and Game of Thrones filming locations. More accessible than ever from worldwide destinations it’s not hard to see why Reykjavik is the second most popular destination by travel search engine Kayak.
Utilizing the country’s stunning natural settings and spaces, the Secret Solstice side events cater to both music and nature lovers, offering once in a lifetime, jaw-dropping experiences. Whilst stepping inside Europe’s second largest glacier Langjökull or journeying deep into a 5,000 year old Lava Tunnel, those lucky enough to snap up one of the highly prized tickets will be treated to intimate and exclusive performances from Icelandic and international artists. For thousands of years what lay beneath the surface of the Langjökull glacier was considered a mystery and it was only recently that humans were able to see the spectacular blue ice buried 130 feet beneath the surface. Equally as breathtaking, the journey into the magnificent lava caves at Raufarhólshellir is a chance to witness what happens underground during a volcanic eruption which results in natural ice sculptures and stalactites in connecting lava tubes that form natural subterranean arteries. With extremely limited tickets available for Into The Glacier on Saturday June 23 and The Lava Tunnel taking place on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24, these events are sure to sell out.

Why ETEP?
The European Talent Exchange Programme was introduced to make the “exchange” of European artists across Europe possible on a greater scale than ever before. An initiative of Eurosonic Noorderslag, each year artist that play as part of the showcase festival are eligible to participate in the European Talent Exchange Programme. ETEP then facilitates the bookings of European acts on festivals and generates extensive radio and media exposure for these artists in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union and local media. In this way, ETEP aims to give a boost to the careers of European acts.
Looking forward to ETEP 2018!
We proudly welcome Acoustic Lakeside Festival (AT), BUSH (HU), Immergut Festival (DE), Metronome Festival (CH), Revolution Festival (RO), Rock in Rio (PT), Tremor (PT), TRNSMT (GB), Woodstock Festival (PL), Zermett Unplugged (CZ) to ETEP in 2018, bringing us to a total of 110 ETEP-festivals. Furthermore, we’d like to welcome our new partners: Why Portugal, Music Estonia, Iceland Music Export (IMX) and the PRS Foundation to the platform. By welcoming them to the ETEP family, we generate even more opportunities for European artists to showcase their music!
We keep investing in a well spread Geographical coverage both in festivals as in members, therefore we have expanded the platform to 16 members from 15 countries. But, we want to go further. To facilitate even more exposure, we want to increase the visibility of European artists outside of Europe. Therefore, we will start inviting music festivals from outside of Europe to join the ETEP programme.
Another new aim for the programme is to strengthen the capacity of the emerging artist and their managements to build and sustain an international music career. Therefore, we will develop a designated educational and training programme for artists on how the international music industry works, what their chances are, how they can develop a career, attract audiences. As part of this we will be hosting sessions in the artist village during Eurosonic Noorderslag.

The legendary songwriter, author and actor will perform together with his most acclaimed musical companions on the closing festival day on Sunday, July 22. One-day and two-day tickets are onsale now.
Triumph, the manifesto of rock and roll and the extraordinary answer to the incomprehensible are just a few of the epithets that music reviewers have chosen to describe the concerts of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds that have delighted people not only during this year's European tour, but throughout the band’s long and storied history. For almost 35 years, this unique band has been synonymous with dark and extravagant contemporary rock music that has won it a legion of fans all over the world. The Bad Seeds, which is founded on the ashes of Nick Cave’s previous band The Birthday Party, brings together cosmopolitan-minded visionaries who are ready to break any imagined boundaries of music to create original sound the like of which has never been heard before.
Ever since the release of their debut album From Her To Eternity back in 1984, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds have sounded like no other musicians on Earth, which is as true today as ever before. While the Bad Seeds have allowed themselves all kinds of experiments, including absolutely dark and absurd “horror” rock, clear and naïve garage rock and even the temptation of punk rock, they have always kept their signature character, making the band instantly recognisable from the very first beats of their songs.
Every album by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds has its own story, and the latest, Skeleton Tree, is no exception. It is full of sorrow and pain due to the fact that Cave’s teenage son Arthur died during its recording - one can only guess what emotions and dialogues with the universe are encoded in this record. However, Cave has left the tragedy in the past and, even at 60 years of age, is still in excellent shape on stage, as well as being incredibly open to listeners and not hiding his emotions, including his grief. Despite the sad background to this latest album, Cave’s performances are life- affirming. Apart from featuring the music from the new album, his concerts include songs that have proved to be timeless classic, drawn from iconic albums such as The Boatman’s Call, gothic Murder Ballads and other song compilations.
“From beauty that breaks your heart to poorly managed chaos - the band performs a surprisingly uplifting arena concert”, wrote The Guardian about Cave and the band’s appearance in the UK.
“This sell-out show… was surprisingly uplifting. Euphoric, even, at times. Far from cutting the sorrowful figure of an isolated man consumed by sadness, Cave took on the role of a quasi-religious leader, reaching out to hold hands with fans and ignite their emotions into a life-affirming fire of furious sound,” was the rapturous reaction of the British online newspaper The Independent, simultaneously giving Cave the title of the “gothic ringmaster”.
This year’s European and British concert tour is completely sold out, but it is already announced that in the next summer, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will tour in Northern Europe, including Positivus Festival in Latvia on July 22.
