EXIT Festival Early-Bird Tickets for 50th Anniversary of Summer of Love!

This year was once again a great success for both EXIT and Sea Dance festivals, which combined make the EXIT Adventure, a unique holiday package that took nearly 300.000 fans on a life-changing journey through the Balkans. This massive party starts each year in the second weekend of July at the globally acclaimed EXIT Festival in Serbia, and then travels to its sister Sea Dance Festival in the neighbouring Montenegro. More than 1000 international and local artists performed at 30+ very genre-diverse stages, spanning from the colossal Petrovaradin Fortress where EXIT takes place, to the Sea Dance Festival's stunning Jaz beach, considered by the Lonely Planet as the Best European Beach in 2015! EXIT had four official days and nights, with Sea Dance adding its three, but for many the whole festival holiday lasted more than 10 days with camping next to the sandy beaches that both festivals have nearby.

EXIT broke its own personal record this summer for the total visits, with a new record for the most visited night in history, which happened on the final night headlined by The Prodigy and Wiz Khalifa. The Fortress also welcomed Ellie Goulding, Bastille, The Vaccines, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, David Guetta, Stormzy, Tinariwen, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz, Solomun, Marco Carola, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Oliver Heldens, DJ Hype, Sigma, Wilkinson and many others. The Adventure continued on to Jaz beach where during three days and nights at the Sea Dance festival fans enjoyed the performances of Skrillex, Hurts, Lost Frequencies, Andy C, Sub Focus, Black Coffee, Jeff Mills, Stereo MC's, Banco de Gaia and many others.

The artists and the audience from 60 countries worldwide have created the true EXIT Magic, which was this year's theme, captured in the official aftermovie. The main character is a young forest fairy whose imagination builds magic fortress, fills it with dancing people, introduces them to one another to have them all travel next to a turquoise Adriatic seaside. The aftermovie also announces the next EXIT Festival's edition that will mark the 50 years since the famous “Summer of Love 1967" when the revolutionary hippie movement began and forever changed the world by fighting for peace, freedom of speech, human rights, and social, racial, and gender equality.

Early-Bird tickets available from 18 November!
Next EXIT Festival will take place from 6 to 9 July in the Serbian city of Novi Sad, where the Petrovaradin Fortress is located. A special Early-Bird offer for the four-day ticket to EXIT Festival will be available from 18 November! First buyers for the EXIT Summer of Love 2017 will be able to purchase tickets with an amazing 30% off, at just 99 EUR +b/f / £89 + b/f! Don’t forget to check the official EXIT website on 18 November because there is a very limited amount of tickets at this special offer! The first confirmed acts will soon be announced for what is always a very genre diverse line up that both EXIT is known for.

EXIT's hometown is the European Capital of Culture 2021
EXIT Foundation was in charge of the winning campaign for the city of Novi Sad, where EXIT takes place, to be the European Capital of Culture in 2021. EXIT has been held in the in the historic Petrovaradin Fortress on the river Danube since 2000, promoting the city of Novi Sad to festival goers worldwide who have been enjoying the picturesque city and buzzing cafe and bar culture for many years. Novi Sad presented its candidacy for the European Capital of Culture title with the programme concept of ‘4 new bridges’: Freedom (creative industries and youth), Hope (devoted to cultural facilities and public spaces), Rainbow (issues of conflicts and migrations) and New Bridge (cultural heritage and hospitality). This was the first time that a city from a EU candidate or potential candidate country was awarded the title.

Octave One Announce New Album ‘Love by Machine’

A year after their impressive last album Burn It Down, Detroit techno legends Octave One are back with a nine track double EP that again shows they are masters of big hypnotic grooves.

Entitled Love by Machine, the album’s name is a nod to the fact that the Burden brothers are such revered masters of their hardware. Both in the studio, where they cook up atmospheric house and techno with soaring synths and vocals and also in the live arena, where they are celebrated as one of the most accomplished and forward thinking performers in the game today. That is all the more impressive when you bear in mind they have been active since the ‘80s, most often releasing on their own 430 West label, which is where they appear again here.

Say Lenny: “We’ve been exploring the theme of connection with this project. How technology gives us the illusion that we are closer to each other more than ever. At some point humanity crossed a line where the devices that we created to bring us together are the same devices that are blocking us from organic experiences.”

“Technology is only a tool, which we also had in mind during the recording process.” Adds Lawrence. “We decided to go back to how we used to make our records, when we didn’t have so many ‘sophisticated’ audio devices. Back to when we interacted in the studio together as musicians.”

Things open up with the loose metallic percussive line that is In Mono, which sets the machine made tone and is filled with promise. Locator then immediately gets to action with a gallivanting techno kick and various synth lines wrapping round each other as you get sucked into the groove. Just Don’t Speak (Midnight Sun Redub) is a more deep and house leaning track with big feel good piano keys and slithering synths that will get hands in the air. Proving they have real range, 7 B4 Dawn is a moody and reserved cut with subtle acid pricks, hip swinging claps and a spaced out dead of night feel.

The second half of the album offers peak time business in the form of the spectacular Bad Love II, the whirring and cosmic Sounds of Jericho and the big loops and fluid grooves of [Where] Time Collides. Pain Pressure is a wonky number with big bassline and a focus on percussive patterns as well as some vocals with real attitude and last cut 8 B4 Dawn ends things in a downbeat and sombre way with sad chords and emotive strings. It is pure Detroit, much like the whole album, and rounds out another fine release from these most revered veterans.

Tracklist:
1. In Mono
2. Locator
3. Just Don't Speak (Midnight Sun ReDub)
4. 7 b4 Dawn
5. Bad Love II
6. Sounds of Jericho
7. [Where] Time Collides

9. 8 b4 Dawn

Kaiserdisco – Toleranz EP - Drumcode 163

Hugely prolific German producers Kaiserdisco are back on one of their regular labels for a sixth fine EP of their searing grooves. That label is Drumcode, and the EP is Toleranz, a fantastic four track affair that features a fine remix from Pleasurekraft.

Hamburg based Kaiserdisco have been active since 2008, and in that time have put out 30 EPs and nearly 50 remixes. As well as running their own labels, KD Music and KD RAW, they are regulars on the likes of Suara and Tronic and are as able to headline a big festival stage as they are to lock down a more intimate club. Drumcode, of course, is one of the day’s foremost techno labels, with boss Adam Beyer ensuring only the most compelling beats make their way onto his Swedish imprint.

Up first is Get Enough, seven minutes of seductive techno that has an almost machine-gun like disco synth firing across the groove. It is a rumbling peak time track with real force and energy that will bring any floor to life. The title track, Toleranz, is a gritty and stripped back basement cut with dry hits and burrowing acid bass that takes you deep into the night. Cobra then proves this pair have real breadth in the studio and is a barrel chested house cut with more big hits, rib rattling bass and incendiary techno hi hats that really get you on your toes.

Remixing are the tech duo of Pleasurekraft, whose releases on Octopus and Mood Records have won them plenty of DJ and dancing fans. They layer in some dark melodies to SQ80 and build it steadily before allowing the militant drums and crisp snares to explode and drive you and the whole club forwards.

This is another big and high impact release from both Drumcode and Kasierdisco that is sure to make its mark on anyone who hears it.

1.Get Enough
2.Toleranz
3.Cobra
4.SQ80 (Pleasurekraft Remix)

Record breaking Sziget Festival

The 24th Sziget Festival has ended with the record-breaking number: almost half a million people attended from more than 100 countries. The non-stop week of fun of 2016 is now over, but the dates of the 25th Island of Freedom are already revealed, so save the date: 9-16 August, 2017.

Following last year's success, altogether 496.000 visitors came to Sziget Festival, a record-breaking number for the organizers as well. Passes were sold out since Spring and three days were sold out as well. Károly Gerendai, founder and main organizer, added: "The number of festival visitors is getting more balanced. While previously generally the weekend of the festival was sold out, now the number of visitors are pretty much the same each day." Szitizens came from more than 100 countries, so it is legitimate to say that almost the half world was represented at Sziget.

Besides the biggest stages, the program of more the more than 50 program venues were also the centre of the attention during the seven days of fun of the Island of Freedom.

Sziget is coming back in 2017 with its 25th anniversary between 9-16 August.
