Kaiserdisco – Toleranz EP - Drumcode 163
Hugely prolific German producers Kaiserdisco are back on one of their regular labels for a sixth fine EP of their searing grooves. That label is Drumcode, and the EP is Toleranz, a fantastic four track affair that features a fine remix from Pleasurekraft.
Hamburg based Kaiserdisco have been active since 2008, and in that time have put out 30 EPs and nearly 50 remixes. As well as running their own labels, KD Music and KD RAW, they are regulars on the likes of Suara and Tronic and are as able to headline a big festival stage as they are to lock down a more intimate club. Drumcode, of course, is one of the day’s foremost techno labels, with boss Adam Beyer ensuring only the most compelling beats make their way onto his Swedish imprint.
Up first is Get Enough, seven minutes of seductive techno that has an almost machine-gun like disco synth firing across the groove. It is a rumbling peak time track with real force and energy that will bring any floor to life. The title track, Toleranz, is a gritty and stripped back basement cut with dry hits and burrowing acid bass that takes you deep into the night. Cobra then proves this pair have real breadth in the studio and is a barrel chested house cut with more big hits, rib rattling bass and incendiary techno hi hats that really get you on your toes.
Remixing are the tech duo of Pleasurekraft, whose releases on Octopus and Mood Records have won them plenty of DJ and dancing fans. They layer in some dark melodies to SQ80 and build it steadily before allowing the militant drums and crisp snares to explode and drive you and the whole club forwards.
This is another big and high impact release from both Drumcode and Kasierdisco that is sure to make its mark on anyone who hears it.

Record breaking Sziget Festival
The 24th Sziget Festival has ended with the record-breaking number: almost half a million people attended from more than 100 countries. The non-stop week of fun of 2016 is now over, but the dates of the 25th Island of Freedom are already revealed, so save the date: 9-16 August, 2017.
Following last year's success, altogether 496.000 visitors came to Sziget Festival, a record-breaking number for the organizers as well. Passes were sold out since Spring and three days were sold out as well. Károly Gerendai, founder and main organizer, added: "The number of festival visitors is getting more balanced. While previously generally the weekend of the festival was sold out, now the number of visitors are pretty much the same each day." Szitizens came from more than 100 countries, so it is legitimate to say that almost the half world was represented at Sziget.
Besides the biggest stages, the program of more the more than 50 program venues were also the centre of the attention during the seven days of fun of the Island of Freedom.
Sziget is coming back in 2017 with its 25th anniversary between 9-16 August.

Dave Clarke’s electro club night ‘Whip It’ returns to Melkweg at Amsterdam Dance Event
Fans of whipping electro music have ample reason to get excited: Dave Clarke’s electro club night ‘Whip It’ returns to Melkweg during Amsterdam Dance Event. The Englishman has cooked up yet another line-up that’s bound to make a few heads spin: UMEK as Zeta Reticula, Dopplereffekt (live), Anthony Rother, Dez Williams, Brutuzz and of course Clarke himself are all present on Saturday the 22nd of October in the Oude Zaal.
The Baron of Techno can add another honorary title to his name and we’re going to go for ‘Duke of Electro’ or what have you. Hundreds of electro music fans danced their asses off last February in the Melkweg for Clarke’s first edition of ‘Whip It’ with respectable names such as Aux 88, DJ Stingray 313 and electro-sets from Sonic-Boom resident Brutuzz and the Baron himself. Clarke proved once again nobody captures the zeitgeist quite like him and with the tone set; it’s time for yet some new whipping.
And whipping there shall be with UMEK as Zeta Reticula, a live-performance of Dopplereffekt, Anthony Rother and Dez Williams. Take Slovenian dj and producer UMEK for instance who, like Clarke, is famous for being a techno dj - albeit a different kind of techno – and they both share an unequivocal love for electro. UMEK professes his love through alter ego Zeta Reticula, which is a nod to the star system Zeta Reticuli. His powerful electro tracks are indeed stellar thanks to terrific breakbeats and stabbing synths that’ll keep your toes off the floor.
Speaking of alter ego’s: is that Gerald Donald of Drexciya as half of live-act Dopplereffekt? It sure is. Ever since James Stinson past away, Donald has been making a name for himself solo as Arpanet and Der Zyklus, and with To Nhan Le Thi as the enigmatic Dopplereffekt. The duo is seldomly interviewed and prefers to let the music speak for itself. And there’s nothing wrong with that: the German name for the act is no coincidence as they take the sound of Kraftwerk as starting point and give a whole new meaning to it. ‘Scientist’ and ‘Pornoactress’ are bona fide underground hits in their own right. To see the two work those synthesizers live, is a joy to behold.
It was only a matter of time before Clarke would book Anthony Rother for Whip It. The German is rightfully credited as one of the first electro revivalists at the turn of the century. With gems such as ‘Sex With The Machines’, ‘Hacker’ and ‘Simulationszeitalter’, Rother knows exactly what makes electro tick: the ubiquitous Roland 808, vocoder heaven and futuristic lyrics. It’s the sort of style that’s right up the alley of Welshman Dez Williams who impressed many electro aficionados with his debut LP ‘Elektronic Religion’ and continues to do so with recent releases on many respected labels including Bass Agenda. You like your electro with some heavy funk and techno on the side? Williams is your man.
And of course, no Whip It would be complete without electro-sets from Dave Clarke himself and Sonic Boom-resident Brutuzz. Both will impress you with known and lesser known electro tracks from their tremendous catalogs.

Octave One feat. Ann Saunderson 'Just Don’t Speak' Out this Week
Titanic techno duo Octave One are back with a hot new single which is out this week. Featuring their long time collaborator Ann Saunderson on vocals and coming with three different mixes, ‘Just Don’t Speak’ it is sure to be a summer anthem.
Detroit’s Octave One are one of the most revered and hard working live acts in all of dance music, and have been since the late eighties. As well as being devoted to cooking up scintillating shows on the fly, they also keep busy in the studio, serving up the sort of high grade and impactful records that keep DJs and dancers happy. ‘Just Don't Speak’ has already received repeated support from Pete Tong on Radio 1, who played the world exclusive on his show, so is a truly bonafide bomb.
The track features their long time collaborator (British singer/songwriter), Ann Saunderson who also collaborated with Octave One on their massive dance anthem ‘Blackwater’ (released in 2002) and has worked with a list of who's who, in the dance music arena.
Also featured on ‘Just Don't Speak’ are the Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) who also collaborated on‘Blackwater’, adding a unique twist to the track with their contemporary string ensemble. As a versatile string ensemble, USO have worked at the top of the UK music industry for 20 year, specialising in recording sessions for top artists, major corporate events and exclusive private parties. Violinist, conductor, orchestrator and arranger Stephen Hussey founded the USO, arranging and recording strings for pop artists. Oasis invited USO to perform at their second album launch for (What's The Story) Morning Glory? with an offer to play at Mariah Carey’s Christmas party following shortly after. Since then USO have been delighting audiences at exclusive events all around the world and have worked with artists such as; Mick Jagger, Madonna Kylie Grace Jones, Jay Z, Groove Armada, Nitin Sawhney and many more.
‘Just Don’t Speak’ is a barrelling house cut with subtle but joyous piano chords rolling above fat bass. Ann’s vocals are typically elastic and emotive and love fuelled. They soar as the pressure below builds and are sure to leave crowds in raptures. An instrumental version places even more focus on the uplifting and driving groove, and a dub version strips things back to the infectious percussion and bold drum lines, making for a more macho and physical cut.
A radio edit is also included in the package and ensures that all bases are covered in great style by the ever essential Burden brothers.

EXIT Festival Announce Dates for 2017
After its busiest year, EXIT Festival celebrates 50 years of the Summer of Love in 2017!
EXIT 2017 from 6th – 9th July – Early-Bird tickes registration begins
After this year's record-breaking attendance in 16 years of its existence, EXIT Festival 2017 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love! Next year, EXIT will mark some of the most important events from 1967 when the revolutionary Peace Movement began and changed the world forever. This social phenomenon gathered people from all over the world around the idea of community, peace, solidarity and love; it held in immeasurable influence over contemporary music as well as culture at large. The peace sign, colourful clothes and flowers in hair are the first things that come to mind when talking about the Summer of Love, whilst its vast legacy embodies the universal quest for peace, freedom of speech, human rights, and social, racial and gender equality.
“The Summer of Love symbolises the beginning of the hippie movement that changed contemporary music forever and gave birth to modern music festivals, whose aim was to fight for peace and to change the world through music and celebration of life. Similarly, EXIT was founded from the resistance youth movement that was fighting for peace and freedom in Balkans 16 years ago. It’s one of the rare active music festivals that still nurtures the legacy of the early contemporary music festivals from late 60's and early 70t's that first and foremost were founded because of strong social agenda. That’s exactly why we believe it is our duty to remind the world of the events that happened 50 years ago and spread once again the Peace Movement’s messages – which are desperately needed in today’s world, now even more than ever,” said the founder of the EXIT festival, Dušan Kovačević.
The culmination of the grand anniversary will take place at the EXIT festival, 6 – 9 July, at the Petrovaradin fortress, one of the largest ones in Europe, settled in the city of Novi Sad in the northern Serbia. Fans from all over the world can already apply today to get the lowest-priced "early-bird" tickets, that will soon after be on general sale. The number of these first tickets is extremely limited, so hurry up and reserve your spot at the upcoming EXIT Summer of Love 2017: https://exit-adventure.typeform.com/to/L05ZtA
Bastille - Pompeii (Live at EXIT 2016): https://youtu.be/A3G4BuZXaoE
This year’s EXIT Adventure, which is a name of the unique festival holiday package that is comprised of two award-winning festivals, EXIT and Sea Dance, held on two spectacular locations in two neighbouring countries, took over 270.000 visitors, from more than 60 countries, on a summer festival journey. From the colossal Petrovaradin fortress in Serbia to the stunning Jaz Beach in Montenegro, they spent four days and nights at EXIT festival, then another three more at Sea Dance festival listening to some of the most sought-for global music acts. The Adventure onboarded its first passengers in Novi Sad and took them to indie-pop princess Ellie Goulding’s firework-infused show, preceded by the British rockers Bastille. The title of the first amongst equals on the second night was won by the absolute hitmaker David Guetta, thanks to an audio-visual spectacle that’s rarely seen in anyone’s lifetime! EXIT’s Main stage looked lit, like a huge machine that birthed special versions of the biggest pop and dance hits in an endless, glittering mix. The huge party at EXIT's Main Stage was also heralded by the funk doctor George Clinton, backed by the numerous members of the Parliament-Funkadelic, while with unbelievable ease Wiz Khalifa confirmed the status of the world’s no.1 hip-hop performer, by putting on a show that is possible only for someone who’s at the very peak of their career. Khalifa's charisma even caused the show to pause at one moment so the audience could chant his name for almost 5 minutes! Popular English indie-rockers The Vaccines lived up to pretty big expectations, along with the punk legends Cock Sparrer, guitar rebels Tinariwen, and – to utterly no one’s surprise – The Prodigy, the favourites of the EXIT fans, who caused an unprecedented eruption of energy. This unfathomable chemistry between Liam, Keith and Maxim and 55.000 people in the audience led to a record-breaking evening on the final night, and crowned it as the day with the most visitors at the fortress, ever!
Meanwhile, around 25.000 people greeted the sun each morning at the world-renowned Dance Arena with the first-ranking duo at Top DJ Mag’s list, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, as well as Ibiza’s kings Solomun, Maceo Plex, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola, as well as countless other stars like Nicky Romero, Dave Clarke, Nina Kraviz, Oliver Heldens and many others. The No Sleep Novi Sad stage had its four wild nights and morning curated by the Europe's leading underground clubs Nitsa, Tresor, Concrete, Grelle Forelle i Drugstore, with set by the likes o f Moritz von Oswald, Tommy Four Seven, Rebolledo, Powell, Dasha Rush, Zadig, Cassegrain and many more! At the Explosive stage, fans of furious riffs headbanged with Paradise Lost, At The Gates, Anti-Flag, Raised Fist, Toxic Holocaust and many others. During the four days of the festival, over 195.000 visitors ventured through its gates, and all stages were packed with smiling people, which was best witnessed by David Guetta’s quote during the unprecedented spectacle at the Main stage: “Thank you EXIT, I have enjoyed here before, but I think that this year is better than ever!”
The closing ceremony at mts Dance Arena 2016: https://youtu.be/ZlbjaQfORxQ
After four unforgettable days in Novi Sad, fans have travelled south to the gorgeous Jaz beach, Montenegro, where another three exciting days and just as many nights awaited at the Sea Dance, the festival bathed in the glistening reflection of the morning sun on the high seas of Jadran’s turquoise waters. The beach chapter of the EXIT Adventure welcomed the great performances by Stereo MCs, Andy C, Black Coffee, Sister Bliss, Jeff Mills, Banco de Gaia, Zomboy, Goldie, Sub Focus, Shy FX, Marko Nastic and many others. However, the throne of this year’s performer’s list was deservedly won by Skrillex, who, like during EXIT festival two years ago, after the colossal spectacle at the Main Stage, walked over to the Dance Paradise stage, and held a surprise back2back DJ set with one of the leading Montenegrin house masters, Mr. Jools! Not even Olympic record-breakers would attempt to jump above a bar set so high, yet that’s exactly what the lads from Manchester did. Nothing is impossible for Hurts who, on the final evening of the festival at Jaz beach, showed that the heart is the biggest asset in every finale! They confirmed as much by saying: “We’ll cherish this night forever, and we’ll come back to you, because you’ve got something that’s slowly fading away in this world – a heart and soul!”
