Black Loops – Edit / No
Cera Alba – Leftfield
Truth Be Told – Sonnen

After the success of the last one, it is no wonder that the non stop house label AVOTRE is now serving up another VA EP. This one brings together new school talents Black Loops, Cera Alba and truth Be Told and is another fine showcase of the hot sounds Santé’s label deals in.

Up first are Black Loops, an Italian and Berlin pair that make hot and funk fuelled house on labels like Gomma and Toy Tonics. Their cut ‘Edit / No’ is a feisty, sensual affair with a rubbery, minimal drum line as well as subtle effects and muted voices all making for a mysterious vibe. It’s elastic and deep, driving but emotive and is a perfect fit with the label.

Then comes UK star Cera Alba, who has been making big waves all around the world. As a resident at DC10 and a producer on labels like Moon Harbour and VIVa he is very much the house sound of now. His track ‘Leftfield’ is a banging house track for the peak of the night. A careful bass progressions is poised above rolling drums that cannot fail to suck you in. Incendiary hi hats and neon melodies all add colour to the track, which is another sure fire hit for Alba.

Lastly, house enthusiasts and the Liverpudlian duo Truth Be Told – who have had support from the likes of Richie Hawtin before now – serve up ‘Sonnen’, a bulky, garage influenced cut with full fat drums, explosive highs and the sort of endless, frictionless drum lines that dancers never want to end. It’s a real party starter and rounds out another accomplished EP from the AVOTRE label.
