Bringing you the best in up and coming Dutch artists, courtesy of the Cultural Department of The Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in London – this years showcase will feature live performances by Utrecht four-piece Mister and Mississippi, psychedelic rockers Birth Of Joy, national heroes De Staat and ‘superjazz’ outfit Bruut!
Mister and Mississippi
Mister and Mississippi are a 4 piece band from Utrecht with an enchanting female vocalist. Their is calm and folky somewhat dreamy but dynamical and experimental without being inaccessible, so that the listeners can give their own interpretation to this unique style of music. www.misterandmississippi.nl

Birth Of Joy
Pumping drums, raw guitars and a supercharged organ make of Birth of Joy a chemistry you can’t deny. Influenced by psychedelica, blues and steaming rock&roll this trio takes you back to the old times of MC5, The Doors and even Pink Floyd! With a drum player that could be Keith Moon’s son, an organist that harasses his instrument to death and a singer/guitarist that seems to be the power version of Jim Morrison, this band is bound to catapult psychedelic sixties rock&roll back into our modern times with an energy you can’t resist! www.birthofjoy.com

De Staat
Since their debut in 2009 with the album Wait For Evolution, De Staat has quickly evolved into one of the most important Dutch rock bands around. They’ve played all the biggest festivals in the Netherlands as well as the rest of Europe, including Glastonbury. The band’s singer, producer, guitarist and songwriter, Torre Florim has quickly emerged as one of the main players in the Dutch music industry, not only because of his work with De Staat, but also as a producer, songwriter and singer for other bands. Their third album, I_CON (September, 2013) was mixed by Jack White’s right-hand man, Vance Powell. You can also see them live Upstairs at the Garage in London on 8th March. www.destaat.net

Bruut!
To the surrealism of Quentin Tarantino films, second-hand records and old Westerns. To the vibe of lava lamps and Photoshopped boogaloo, to a 1960s that is as unfocused as the 1960s you see on YouTube…BRUUT! swings hard. They balance the colourful with the unpolished, and the danceable with the listenable. In short: BRUUT! is all about super jazz. www.bruutmusic.com
