Eurosonic Noorderslag has a proven track record for helping new bands break into the International music scene and many bands who showcase at the event go on to play  festival shows in Europe and have successful careers.

Presenting a broad variety of the best European talent throughout the city of Groningen Eurosonic Noorderslag is an important platform for new European talent. With the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Yourope giving additional exposure to the performing artists, Eurosonic Noorderslag plays a vital role in the development and circulation of talent in Europe and beyond. Instrumental in this circulation is our own ETEP (European Talent Exchange Programme). Since the start of the ETEP program in 2003 a total of 605 artists have played 1646 shows at 80 festivals in 26 countries. (2003 – 2012) www.etep.nl

Here’s an update on bands who performed in 2013…

AlunaGeorge, UK
Watch AlunaGeorge live at Eurosonic Noorderslag. AlunaGeorge is one of the hottest acts the year, playing at 8 ETEP festivals during the summer. At the end of August they’re heading for the USA to perform at numerous festivals and club shows.

Bastille, UK
Watch Bastille Eurosonic showcase. Alternative rock band Bastille are performing beyond their imagination. The Londoners are doing spectacularly in the charts and they have been booked for 6 ETEP festivals. After playing at Eurosonic Noorderslag, Bastille are returning to The Netherlands for another festival show at Pinkpop.

Blaudzun, NL
Listen to showcase audio. For Blaudzun, 2013 is looking bright. The international tour looks promising. Blaudzun went to Berlin, Brussels and Hamburg and is now heading for New York and SXSW.

C2C, FR
Watch EBBA performance. The French DJ-super team C2C won the EBBA Public Choice Award and gave an impressive performance at Eurosonic. It has been booming ever since. C2C has a packed touring schedule and they are playing several festivals this summer.

Chvrches, UK
Watch Chvrches Eurosonic session. 2013 marks the rise of the electro-pop act Chvrches. Who have just returned from an extensive tour through the United States. As well as their live shows, they also performed their single ‘Mother we Share’ on American National Television. This summer Chvrches are playing at 6 ETEP festivals, in addition to supporting Depeche Mode.

Efterklang, DK
Watch Efterklang videos at Eurosonic Noorderslag. The Danish band Efterklang have played more than 60 shows since their Eurosonic Noorderslag gig in January. The summer is shaping up to be equally busy, with 8 shows at ETEP festivals and a lot of other gigs all over Europe.

Jacco Gardner, NL
Watch Jacco session video. 2013 has just started, but for Jacco Gardner it has already been an amazing year. The Guardian named the Dutch act the ‘Best new band of today’ and during his tour in the United States, he was performing at SXSW and several other places.

Jake Bugg, UK
Watch Jake’s showcase video. British singer songwriter Jake Bugg had a demanding schedule at Eurosonic Noorderslag. He was playing on the radio, giving interviews and doing a packed showcase. At this moment, Jake Bugg is touring Europe and in the summer he can be seen on several festivals.

Kodaline, IE
Watch Eurosonic showcase video. The BBC nominated the Irish band Kodaline in its Sound of 2013 poll. They can be seen at numerous gigs in the UK, Canada and the US. This summer they will be playing at 6 ETEP festivals and at Summer Sonic festival in Japan.

Mø, DK
Watch session video. The Danish electro pop act Mø jumpstarted their carreer in a way others can only dream of. Mø only released a couple of songs but got a Skandinavian record deal with Sony. This summer Mø will be playing at 5 ETEP festivals.

Mozes and the Firstborn, NL
Watch Mozes and the Firstborn session at Eurosonic Noorderslag. The single ‘I Got Skills’ by the Dutch band Mozes and the Firstborn was an instant classic. Their album got a release with the infamous Burger Records. Recently they finished touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland with the Californian indie rock band Two Gallants.

Netsky, BE
Listen to Netsky Eurosonic showcase audio. The young Belgian producer and DJ Netsky, is one of the stars in drum and bass today. This winter he was rocking a packed venue at Eurosonic Noorderslag and this summer he will be playing in clubs all over Europe and at 7 ETEP festivals.

Palma Violets, UK
Listen to Eurosonic showcase audio. The British rockband Palma Violets made quite an impression. Their song Best of Friends was voted NME’s song of the year for 2012. Soon they are heading for the US for a tour which includes Coachella festival and some house parties. This summer they are rocking at 6 ETEP festivals.

SKIP&DIE, UK
Watch session video. 2013 turns out to be a rewarding year for Dutch band SKIP&DIE. They have explored the whole of Europe, from Spain to the Czech Republic. Villagers, IE
Watch Villagers Eurosonic session. After performing at Eurosonic Noorderslag in January, Villagers have been on an extensive tour. This summer they can be seen at no less then 9 ETEP festivals. This month Villagers were playing at Lowlands and Pukkelpop after returning from a short tour in Australia.
