Talents, bands, artists and performers from 13 Central Eastern European countries will perform at the most important festival for discovering new music, Eurosonic Noorderslag in January 2016.

This historic success for the music industry in the CEE region is the result of five years of the Central-Eastern European program talents (CEETEP) for the exchange of talents, which had its final annual meeting, and conference at EXIT festival this year.

CEETEP is a sub-programme of the already successful European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP) that is of major importance in creating an expanding European music industry and aims to promote and stimulate the circulation of artists and repertoire across Europe, by encouraging and facilitating the exchange of a selection of artist.

Together with a total 18 CEETEP festivals in the CEE region and selected CEE media partners, Eurosonic Noorderslag and coorganisers Exit Festival (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Sziget Festival (Budapest, Hungary) developed a scheme for the circulation of CEE artists at the CEETEP festivals and in the European media.

Since the start of the CEETEP programme in 2011 – 2014 a total of 78 shows by 56 CEETEP artists were presented at the 18 CEETEP festivals in 13 countries of the CEE Region.

At the press conference were Fruszina Szep (Director of Festival Coordination & Public Affairs, Berlin Festival), representatives of the EXIT festival, Ivan Milivojev (EXIT Festival founder) and Vladimir Vodalov (Project Manager), as well as representative of the festival Eurosonic Noorderslag, Peter Smidt (Creative Director at Eurosonic Noorderslag).

For the first time Eurosonic Noorderslag, which has been responsible for kick-starting the careers of European acts like Ásgeir, AURORA, Bastille, Dotan, Ibeyi, James Blake, Jett Rebel, Hozier, Milky Chance, Royal Blood, Seinabo Sey, Vök and many more will have 13 CEE countries in focus. Expectations are high since during the five years of CEETEP project, Festivals and Managers in music industry recognized that this part of Europe is rich with new energy, distinctive sounds, bands that are unique and present the culture of their countries.

Thanks to CEETEP, a important base for cultural exchange has been created, as well as the great opportunity for fresh sounds in contemporary music.
