Amsterdam Dance Event Announce Dates for 2022 Edition and Return of ADE Pro Conference

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is set to celebrate its upcoming edition from October 19th through 23rd, 2022. In addition to the festival program, the daytime business conference will be returning as well.

ADE 2021: A successful return of electronic music in Amsterdam
This year, in less than a month's time, the Amsterdam Dance Event, in collaboration with the municipality and the city’s electronic music scene has confirmed 350+ events welcoming over 300,000 visitors. “Given the role that ADE fulfilled this year, it was perhaps the most important edition in its history," according to national newspaper Volkskrant.

In addition to well-known festival events such as DGTL, Loveland and the DJ Mag Top 100, this year’s many highlights included Niklas Paschburg's live concert in Concertgebouw, He.She.They at Shelter and Speedy J's STOOR project in Paradiso, as well as Arts & Culture events such as the artist residency with Villa Buitenlust, Ester at Muziekgebouw and the energetic ARK Rave Studio sessions. The organisation also collaborated with Boris Acket, Chris van Meer and Lumus Instruments to symbolically signal the big restart of nightlife in Amsterdam with the art installation BAKEN (Beacon) on top of the A'DAM Tower.

Although ADE’s conference had already been cancelled in September, industry professionals were able to meet up and work at the ADE Business Hangout, and participate in a special innovation showcase edition of ADE’s monthly talk show ADE in Conversation. The show featured DJ Pierre, Colin Benders and industry leaders from Roblox and Universal Music Group discussing innovations in electronic music and its industry such as the Metaverse, all in a mixed reality environment where physical and virtual audiences came together in one room.

EXIT's Showcase at Amsterdam Dance Event, at One of the Most Exciting Clubs in the World!

This year, EXIT will once again cooperate with the famous Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), at a party that will take place on Friday, 15th October, at Faralda Crane, one of the most exciting clubs and hotels in the world, located 50 meters above Amsterdam, on top of a monumental construction crane. As the only festival group in the world that managed to organize as many as four festivals in three different countries in 2021, EXIT will present an eclectic lineup of esteemed international electronic music performers consisting of Anfisa Letyago, Adiel, DJ Jock, Daniella da Silva, Human Rias and Lieke Trienekens to Amsterdam's ADE audience. The performances start at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Exit's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The Key Visual for the EXIT’s Showcase at the Amsterdam Dance Event was made in support of the “Unmute Us” protests in the Netherlands, which were launched against the ban on the music industry during the coronavirus pandemic. The closed fist with a festival wristband was inspired by the symbol of resistance against the oppressive government of Slobodan Milosevic, from which the EXIT festival originated in 2000 and which was later used for peaceful revolutions around the world.

Amsterdam Dance Event is the largest electronic music festival in the world, bringing together all leading and upcoming DJs, producers, publishers, agents, promoters, production companies, and many other actors on the global electronic scene. This year it will be held from 13th to 17th October with the festival program including over 350 events. Adam Beyer, Charlotte de Witte, Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz, Paul Kalkbrenner, and many other world-renowned names in electronic music will perform at ADE.

The cooperation with ADE has lasted since 2018, when EXIT featured its No Sleep music platform and presented some of the most talented DJs from the region, such as Marko Nastić, Ilija Đoković, and DJ Jock, to the most influential people in the music industry.  The continued cooperation with ADE in 2019 resulted in the first LIFE STREAM event, which started the festival's most prominent environmental project. At that time, also at Farald Crane, ARTBAT performed at ADE as the reigning winners of the award for the best new DJ duo, along with regional talents including Coeus, After Affair, and Andrew Meller.

Anfisa Letyago first established herself on the Neapolitan club scene, followed by releases for New York's Nervous Records and Cox's Intec label, as well as performances at the world's largest festivals. Currently, she is one of the fastest-growing stars on the global electronic scene, bravely following in the footsteps of Nina Kraviz, Charlotte de Witte, and Amelie Lens. Adiel is a multi-talented Italian with a residency at the Roman club Goa. She is the owner of the Danza Tribalia label. DJ Jock and producer from Split, is considered one of the highest-quality producers in the Croatian and regional scene's new generation of artists. Daniella da Silva, a South Africa native with a degree in music production from the Soul Candy Institute, represents the Berlin underground scene. Human Rias is known as a resident and booking agent for the former cult Munich club MMA (Mixed Munich Arts), while the evening's host will be Amsterdam DJ Lieke Trienekens.

Building Back Better Together
The music industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, which has now lasted more than a year and a half. The pandemic also showed how the music industry, both collectively and individually, needs to reinvent, improve and innovate. We can and must do better. Right now, on the eve of 'back to normal', we need to collectively ask ourselves whether we really want to go back to the old routine again. This is the time not only to do it better, but also to do it together; and Building Back Better Together, is the overall theme of the conference programme. With this, ESNS 2022 heralds the restart of a renewed festival season.

ESNS director Dago Houben says: “ESNS is an event representing the live industry in which networking is key. It is therefore inevitable that, now that the restrictions of the pandemic are diminishing, we are going to set up a physical event. We have found that there is a need for this among both artists and delegates. In keeping with this year's adage, Building Back Better Together, we are organising ESNS in physical form and taking some successful digital elements from the last edition with us.”

ESNS registrations and sustainability
ESNS has already taken a number of steps in recent years in the context of sustainability and intends to intensify this in 2022. For example, the organization has affiliated itself with the Green Deal Circular Festivals, a collaboration with European festivals, with the aim of operating in a circular manner by 2025. ESNS is aware of the fact that this process takes time and presents a large number of challenges, and the event wants to include delegates, visitors, artists and partners in the process in order to inspire each other with new initiatives. ESNS is including a Solidarity Eco Tax for the first time, in the form of an additional contribution for all visitors ESNS 2022, in an effort to offset the CO2 emissions generated by travel to and from the event.

Registrations for ESNS 2022 are open as from today via the ESNS website. There are a limited number of tickets available at the Early Bird rate of €275 (a discount of €150 on the walk-up rate of €450). Delegates who bought a ticket for the digital edition last year will receive a €50 discount, and tickets for Young Professionals (up to 28 years) are available for € 225. The Solidarity Eco Tax is € 12.50.

About ESNS
With over 350 acts, 40,000 visitors and 4,200 participating professionals, ESNS is the leading international platform for the European music sector. ESNS's mission is to generate more attention for European pop music and to provide European artists with an effective springboard to international success. The main activities are the conference, the festivals Eurosonic and Noorderslag and the two European projects: the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards and the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP).

Skiddle and NTIA Announce £50K of Bursaries to Bolster Events Industry

£50,000 OF GRANTS AVAILABLE AS SKIDDLE’S EVENTS REVIVAL FUND IS LAUNCHED AS PART OF NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NIGHT TIME INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION

Skiddle has today announced it will hand out £50,000 of bursaries to kickstart the events industry, as part of a new ongoing partnership with the Night Time Industries Association.

Skiddle’s Events Revival Fund, in partnership with the NTIA which promotes the unique contribution of the night time industry to the UK, will be awarded to events organisers in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to help rebuild the industry in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The money will support events organisers and promoters who plan to put on events in bars and nightclubs in a bid to revitalise the events industry with much needed financial support after a considerable loss of earnings for many promoters and venues in the last eighteen months.

Skiddle and the NTIA is calling out for new and experienced event organisers to apply now, to win the funds to put on the very best live experiences around the country, giving a much needed boost to the industry, and reigniting the public’s love for live events.

New figures released by Skiddle show that consumers are indeed ready to enjoy live events again, with the company reporting an extra £1.4m in ticket sales to live events in the last six months as lockdown began to lift, with an increase of 400% in comparison to the same period last year (March - August). Overall Skiddle has seen a huge increase of 442% in ticket sales in 2021 vs 2020, with plans from the Government to scrap Covid passports for nightclubs and live events expected to push the trend even further.

Ben Sebborn, CTO at Skiddle said “We know firsthand how hard the industry has been hit in the last eighteen months, and now we are able to host and attend events once more. We want to make them the best we possibly can. We hope that the bursaries enable promoters and event organisers to put on an amazing series of events around the UK that may not have been possible without this financial support.”

Michael Kill CEO NTIA added, “The Night Time Economy and Events sector has continually been at the sharp end of the pandemic. We are now able to plan for the future, with the removal of challenging mitigations we are able to really focus on supporting grassroots promoters in building back and re-establishing a world leading industry across the UK. We hope this bursary will help grassroots promoters to re-invigorate their commitment and inspire new entrepreneurs to invest in the future of the events industry . ”

The bursaries in Skiddle’s Events Revival Fund are available to promoters, events or venues which are planning events this autumn, and can show that the additional funds will create an incredible experience for guests. Promoters, event organisers, and venue teams will be able to apply for the bursary via the Skiddle website, with applications remaining open from 1st - 31st October 2021. Bursaries will be awarded to successful applicants on a weekly basis, so that organisers can focus on the important bit - welcoming the UK back to live events!

Those who are interested in applying for the fund can register their interest here.

As part of a new, ongoing partnership Skiddle, the leading Events & What's On Guide website in the UK and the NTIA plan to help the industry get back on track after the pandemic, with the two businesses working together to provide a support package for NTIA members and Skiddle promoters.

The two businesses will focus on initiatives such as discussions and networking opportunities for promoters in monthly socials, workshops and 1 to 1 mentoring for young people looking to get into the events industry and promoter focus groups run by the NTIA.

In addition to this, NTIA will offer all Skiddle promoters a free membership and Skiddle is working with the NTIA on creating bespoke ticketing and marketing packages for all their current members.

Ben Sebborn of Skiddle added "The NTIA have done amazing work campaigning and supporting the hospitality and nightlife industries, especially in the past year, and so we’re really pleased to be an official partner going forward. Throughout the pandemic, Skiddle has put its promoters front and centre to accommodate their events amidst the changing rules, so this partnership is a natural coming together of shared values.”

“We're confident this new partnership with NTIA will rebuild the events industry through our joint initiatives such as promoter networking opportunities and roundtables. We're also passionate about building up the next generation of promoters which is why we're planning to launch workshops and mentoring for young people.”

ADE Continues Festival Preparations Despite New Covid Regulations

ADE Festival will continue to take place as planned from 13th-17th of October, despite the newly announced Covid restrictions in the Netherlands, among which is the mandate that clubs, venues and indoor events are forced to close between 00:00 and 06:00.

Although directors Meindert Kennis and Jan-Willem van de Ven are baffled by the new set of regulations, the ADE team sees no objection against a solid and safe ADE Festival in accordance with the current restrictions. Over the coming days, the organisation and the city council are examining the details of the new regulations for each type of event within the total ADE offering.

“Although as of now a limited number of events have unfortunately been forced to cancel, plenty of organisers are still willing to go forward to have an amazing ADE Festival this year,” co-director Jan-Willem van de Ven stated.

The directors feel immensely supported by the positive energy and the resilience shown by Amsterdam's nightlife: “Ever since the press conference, we have been overloaded with messages from organisers willing to do everything they can to push forward with their events within the current measures,” added co-director Meindert Kennis. “And we want to do everything we can to support them in their efforts to get the live industry moving again.”

The ADE Festival program can be found on the Amsterdam Dance Event website.

ADE Conference
Due to months of regulatory uncertainties up until four weeks before the event, paired with strict conditions surrounding international travel, the renowned ADE conferences have been forced to cancel. “The decision to postpone ADE Pro, for many music professionals the most important business moment in the year, was especially difficult in the time that the industry needs it the most,” said the directors. “On top of that, we need all of our available resources to coordinate the ADE Festival events as efficiently, and to the best of our ability, within the few weeks we have left.”

ADE Pro conference ticket buyers will be contacted with more info within days.
