Art-pop artists Fever Ray and Sevdaliza confirmed for EXIT Festival opening night

The long list of art-pop acts at EXIT will continue this summer by the two sensational artists who are bringing futuristic sounds to the historic Petrovaradin Fortress where the officaly Best Major European Festival is taking place. The first is the absolute icon of 21st century music, Karin Dreijer, better known as Fever Ray! Karin is coming to the fortress at the pinnacle of her career, starring at the most important festivals of this summer such as Primavera or Melt! which placed her among the three top headliners along with Florence + The Machine and The xx. Followed by a band and a unique and very visual performance, this year’s EXIT welcomes another avant-garde pop star and leading trip-hop artist, Sevdaliza! Her latest album “ISON”, stellar live performances and authentic videos have launched the Iranian artist onto the stages of leading world festivals.

Fever Ray & Sevdaliza added to EXIT Festival 2018: https://youtu.be/R1JUw08GBew

Fever Ray achieved planetary popularity through a beloved revolutionary electro band The Knife, whose five albums have heavily influenced today’s music over multiple generations. In the meantime, Karin leant her sonorous voice to Royksopp’s greatest hit, “What Else Is There”. She collaborated with the Norwegian duo on two more equally successful songs, “This Must Be It” and “Tricky Tricky”. The first solo album as Fever Ray was published in 2009, and The Guardian and Resident Advisor both awarded it the 2nd place on their album list that year. Album birthed the colossal hits “When I Grow Up” and “Keep the Streets Empty for Me”, as well as the most famous “If I Had A Heart”, which has become quite an anthem over the years, as it is in the intro for the planetary popular TV show “Vikings”! Her performances have had a certain veil of mystery, being so few, and her last solo tour ended in 2010, so it is a small surprise that her new album “Plunge” created quite a groundswell. The album is in line with this year’s motto of “EXIT Freedom”, and Karin herself describes it as a work about “freedom and curiosity”, in which she researches the social norms of the 21st century and women that create the rules of conduct. Just like the previous one, this album scored high with all the important media outlets, such as The Guardian, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor.

Sevda Alizadeh, better known as Sevdaliza, was born in Iran, and grew up in Rotterdam. She taught herself to sing, right, direct and compose, and she is fluent in five languages. Her efforts have been recognized, and she is seen as the future, not only of the alternative scene, but the sound that is a remarkable reflection of that which makes this century what it is. Her music is characterized by the complexity of her husky and sensual RnB vocal, abrupt musical phrases and elegiac melodies on strong bass lines. Rhythmical tensions flow into chaotic climaxes, while the melodies mix punk, trip-hop, electro and grime. Her artistic expression is complete with the lyrics influenced by literature and philosophy and following her two maxi-singles “The Suspended Kid” and “Children of Silk”, the critics have already dubbed her album “ISON” the herald of a new musical era. The audience of the EXIT Festival will have the opportunity to enjoy the tracks such as “Human”, “That Other Girl” and “Sirens of the Caspian” this July at the fortress!

Fans of explosive riffs celebrate EXIT reinforcements!

Some feisty reinforcements are coming to EXIT, lead by the legendary New York hardcore band Madball, who are bringing three decades of energy, passion and positive spirit in their return to the Explosive Stage. The leading warriors of the extreme scene, Brujeria, will have their first performance in the region! The very much sought-after punks of Lion’s Law are bringing the oi! punk energy, while one of the most respected Swedish crossover thrash metal bands – Dr Living Dead – will drive the audience out of their minds on day one. Young speed-thrashers, Evil Invaders, as well as the pagan metallers, Skyforger, famous for the first metal opera ever, are also on their way. The audience of the most furious stage of the EXIT Festival will also welcome the Norwegian punk/HC band Exploding Head Syndrome, unpredictable Canadian hardcore punks Boids and, after a long break, local death metallers Bane! More local reinforcements will be taken care of by the Novi Sad’s hardcore punk band First Flame, the stoner sound will be taken care of by Mud Factory, while groove metal veterans Rhemorha are coming from far away Siberia! Oldschool speed thrash metal from Zagreb, Liv and the local thrash black metal, Terrorhammer, will complete the epic lineup of the Explosive Stage.

EXIT Festival will be held on Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, hosting some of the best world, regional, and local music stars, such as Ziggy Marley, Alice Merton, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg, Amelie Lens, Ben Klock, Jax Jones, Ofenbach, Mahmut Orhan, Burak Yeter, Dog Eat Dog, Idles, Slaves, Grave Digger, Slapshot, Idles, Asphyx, Bombers and many others. Iguana Death Cult, Naaz, Paceshifters, Pitou, Rosemary & Garlic.

The Netherlands has been chosen as the lead international partner for The Great Escape who will be working alongside the Dutch Music Export to highlight the country’s most prominent rising stars.

There really is something for everyone and these acts are  ones to keep on your radar in 2018.

Pitou said: “With Holland being the lead country at The Great Escape 2018 it’s very exciting to have this opportunity which enables me to represent my home at this wonderful event by simply playing my music.”

The Dutch Music Export is a longstanding partner at The Great Escape festival, since year one the Dutch Impact party has been a highlight in the convention programme. About the artists

Iguana Death Cult
Rotterdam’s rousing Iguana Death Cult has claimed its own dominion inside the Dutch port’s concrete jungle. By bringing the best of Thee Oh Sees' wild garage psych, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's crazy psych rock and The Black Lips' southern garage together, this young quartet has revitalised the garage scene. Adding some surf sound, Iguana Death Cult mapped out their own route, one that has been full of wild parties, including their own festivals, and crowdsurfing kids. The foursome’s high-octane protopunk and acid-drenched psychedelics create havoc not unlike a ferocious horde of bees. They cemented their live reputation with debut album The First Stirrings Of Hideous Insect Life and now they back, bigger, bolder and rougher than ever.

Naaz
Naaz is an 19-year-old singer-songwriter and producer from Holland, who immediately captures your attention with her distinctive voice. Having a Kurdish background, it took Naaz quite some time and effort to convince her family to allow her to follow her passion. During that time, Naaz taught herself to write, produce and record her own music in her bedroom, so she could still be able to make music regardless of any circumstances. Her quirky, playful yet subtle productions go hand in hand with her melodic songwriting, resulting in a music genre which she herself has named 'quirkpop'. Now with her family lovingly by her side, she wholeheartedly encourages other artists to do the same and never give up on their dreams. In 2017 she signed her first record deal with Universal Music, which quickly followed with her first official single 'Words'. Her debut EP 'Bits Of Naaz' is expected to be released in 2018.

Paceshifters
Alternative/noiserock trio from the East of The Netherlands are a band that doesn't care about lists, bank accounts or what is supposedly hip. Paceshifters resurrect the alternative rock of the 90s and add loads of live passion. The band is like a bolt of lightning for the current musical landscape, channelling an unbridled ambition and energy, and seeing them live is believing. Last album Waiting To Derail was recorded with producer Chris 'Frenchie' Smith (Datsuns, Dandy Warhols) in Austin, Texas, and now Paceshifters shown their worth at many European and just about every Dutch festival.

Pitou
The music of Amsterdam-born musician Pitou is characterized by her highly distinctive voice, special compositions and the use of vocal harmonies as an instrument in themselves. She draws inspiration from sources ranging from Bulgarian choir music to Sparklehorse and Joni Mitchell. Her highly anticipated self-titled debut record was released in 2016 on Scottish/Dutch label Mink Records and was greeted with national and international critical acclaim. In 2017 Pitou has played across The Netherlands, in Brussels, Glasgow and London, and she is confirmed for The Great Escape 2018, plus a new record is in the making.

Rosemary & Garlic
You might have heard Rosemary & Garlic while listening to your favourite Spotify playlists, like The Most Beautiful Songs in the World or Your Favourite Coffee House. The popularity of the DIY indie folk band has been rapidly growing since the release of The Kingfisher EP in 2015. The Dutch duo have gained worldwide attention with their beautiful and poetic songs, each of them filled with a great sense of beauty, nature and image.

OFF Festival Katowice 2018: From rap to noise

Oxbow will blow your mind, Bishop Nehru will make you think, King Ayisoba will pick you up, and Jacques Green will make you groove. The artists in the latest batch of announcements are as consistently excellent as they are diverse.

Oxbow
Oxbow broke their prolonged silence last year with the excellent album Thin Black Dude. Even today, when hardly anything in music is discouraged and practically everything is welcome, the California act remains among the most original guitar bands on the scene. Because what other label could you use to describe music that flows freely between hardcore punk, noise, and blues, with the odd blend of baffling jazz, twisted metal, and other unnameable experiments? This music has everything going on, and thanks the charismatic and unpredictable frontman Eugene Robinson, anything can happen at live shows.

Bishop Nehru
He’s won praise from Kendrick Lamar and grabbed a chance to tour alongside the Wu-Tang Clan. Nas signed him onto his label, and MF DOOM teamed up with him to produce a whole album: NehruvianDOOM. Who is the 21-year-old rapper that earned the seal of approval from practically all the big names in American hip hop? His real name is Markel Scott. Hailing from the town of January, New York, Scott is a true child of 21st-century eclecticism, taking inspiration from jazz, rock, pop, and hip-hop classics to produce albums that are surprisingly mature and original. This is what the future of hip hop sounds like.

King Ayisoba
In his home country of Ghana, King Ayisoba does in fact reign supreme. Playing along on his two-string kologo, he belts out hypnotic lines in his trademark raspy voice. In keeping with the balanced African tradition, his lyrics deal with tough issues like the fight for a better future for himself and others, but are sung to the rhythm of happy, thrilling music that's bursting with energy. A frequent guest on European stages, King Ayisoba has plenty of friends over here, including Arnold de Boer of the legendary Dutch act The Ex, who produced the King’s last two albums, Wicked Leaders and 1000 Can Die. No surprise here: if punk were invented in Ghana, this is what it would sound like.

Jacques Greene
A Montreal-based DJ and producer whose 2017 debut album Feel Infinite delivered on its title, proving that the house music format is in fact boundless, especially when combined with the emotions of soul and sprinkled with talent and imagination. And that’s something Philippe Aubin-Dionne has plenty of: just check out his production work for Katy B, Tinashe, and How To Dress Well.

This year’s OFF Festival lineup also features: Grizzly Bear, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah performing Some Loud Thunder, Marlon Williams, John Maus, Big Freedia, Turbonegro, Egyptian Lover and Aldous Harding.

The 2018 OFF Festival Katowice will take place August 3–5 at Three Pond Valley.

Tickets
Three-day passes are now available at the  OFF Shop for 260 PLN. This price lasts until February 18 or until the first batch of tickets is sold out! Campground tickets are also available for 70 PLN.

Hurts, Robin Schulz, Ofenbach, Disciples and many more for Sea Star Festival in Croatia

Last year's premiere edition of the Sea Star Festival, the new Croatian star organized by EXIT Team, managed to surpass all expectations straight from the start, attracting more than 50,000 people to the magical Stella Maris lagoon in Umag. This year's festival, which will take place from 24th to 27th May at the same location, is bound to be even hotter, at least according to the sales – the first batch of 5,000 early-bird tickets were sold out the very day the festival was announced. The first wave of music sea stars are lead by one of the best concert bands of the day, Hurts, and the killer hitmaker Robin Shulz, shaking the main stages of festivals around Europe! Hits numbering in dozens will be taken care of by the hottest London trio, Disciples, as well as Ofenbach, the hot French duo! In order for the party to be even more intensive, apart from the dance tunes, the hip-hop beats will surely shake the stage, lead by Zagreb heavyweights, Tram 11, godfather of Balkan rap, Edo Maajka, the only true lady of regional hip-hop scene, Sajsi MC, everyone's favorite Dječaci of Dalmatia, and the absolute street trap warrior, Krešo Bengalka from Split.

British duo Hurts very successfully evoke the romanticism of the 80s in a contemporary format, leaving no one indifferent, including the Glastonbury audience who said they are the best live band! Their Exit performance in 2014 and Sea Dance in 2016 blew the minds of dozens of thousands, singing along their greatest hits, such as ‘Wonderful Life', 'Miracle', 'Stay', 'Sunday', 'Illuminated', 'Lights', 'Some Kind Of Heaven', and many other. Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson had the fastest selling British album of 2010 with their debut, 'Happiness', cooperating with Kylie Minogue and Calvin Harris. The follow-up, 'Exile', repeated the success, entering the top 10 albums in Europe, while the third one, 'Surrender', expanded their audiences towards the rest of the world. Their recent album, 'Desire', with the last single 'Ready To Go' collecting millions of YouTube views, takes the phenomenon from Manchester to a new world tour arriving to Croatia in May.

Master of today’s dancefloors, German DJ and producer Robin Shulz, is a man with a golden touch. The gifted German is a star of today's main festival stages, and the list of people he cooperated with includes Moby, David Guetta, James Blunt, Akon and other big names who have nothing but praise for Robin. His last album, 'Undercover' (2017), continues to grab top spots with the hit single 'OK', while the new and fresh track 'Unforgettable' is quite an introduction for his Sea Star Festival performance. Disciples, the London trio, exploded with their hit track 'How Deep is Your Love', created in cooperation with Calvin Harris. The trio consisting of Duvall, Luke Mac and Gavin Cool get points for being authentic by writing, singing and producing their own music, while their 2017 single 'On My Mind' achieved great positions on top lists. What it feels like to hear your song played at every corner is well known to the French duo Ofenbach, whose hit “Be Mine” marked the summer. The idea of mixing rockabilly with house music brought the much-needed freshness into summer months, while their current hit-single, “Katchi” is keeping the winter days quite warm!

EXIT Freedom 2018 presents 5 festivals in 5 countries!
After the EXIT Summer of Love gathered the four festivals in a row last summer, EXIT Freedom 2018 will represent not less than five festivals in five countries: EXIT, Festival 84, Sea Star, Revolution i Sea Dance.
