Today in Stockholm, Sweden, Skott was announced as a winner of the 2018 European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA), the European music awards for emerging artists with outstanding success across Europe. Skott was surprised on live radio at Musiken i P3, by DJ Emma Vikström.
Dreamlike folk, warm electronics and ethereal vocals conspire to draw you closer. Skott is Pauline Skött, a 25-year old singer-songwriter and musician from a tiny village just outside Stockholm. Early singles Porcelain and Wolf were praised by Lorde and Katy Perry, and the Swedish artist kept up the pace with a string of amazing singles in 2017. Skott cooperated with artists like Grey and Twelve'Len, and she is currently working on her debut album, expected to be released in 2018.
EBBA ceremony
Skott is the first European artist to be announced as a winner of an EBBA. A total of ten EBBA winners will be announced in the upcoming weeks. The ceremony will feature performances by the winning acts.

DAVE CLARKE 'THE DESECRATION OF DESIRE’ OUT THIS WEEK
The wait is over the new album hits stores this week!
After a 14 year hiatus, techno and electronic music icon Dave Clarke releases his third full length album this month, entitled ‘The Desecration of Desire’. After teasing us with the fantastic first single ‘Charcoal Eyes (Glass Tears)’ featuring Mark Lanegan which received support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X and club plays from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Len Faki, Nicole Moudeber, Marcel Dettmann etc, the long-time pioneer once again showcases his studio skills and musical vision across 10 tracks that go well beyond the dance floor.
Get a taster of the album with these 3 tracks…
Charcoal Eyes (Glass Tears) Feat. Mark Lanegan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Exom0CtVWQU
I’m not Afraid feat. Anika - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYHspGwgA_w
Plastmatic - https://daveclarke.lnk.to/PlasmaticFA
Over the last three decades, Clarke has proved a singular voice in the underground dance world. As well as turning out essential tracks such as his famous Red Series, he has also hosted his influential White Noise radio show, which has just surpassed 600 episodes and remixed an array of artists including Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, A Place To Bury Strangers, Placebo, Underworld and Soft Moon.
The Desecration of Desire follows 1995’s collection of singles Archive One and 2003’s Devil’s Advocate, which came produced under various outside pressures. As such, this new album is Clarke’s first fully formed musical vision as he would want it. “I decided to write it as I would a book, so the track order you have was also the order in which they were also written, like chapters,” he says in the accompanying sleeve notes.
The album itself contains very little techno. “Not because I don’t like it—I live and breathe it every single week—but I wanted to make an album that was not a collection of club tracks. I listen to many types of music all the time and I felt free for the first time to implement this approach for my own project.” As such it comes coloured with the perspectives of “some delightful, intelligent and deep people who inspired me in their own way” such as LOUISAHHH, Mark Lanegan, Mt. Sims, Anika, Gazelle Twin and Keith Tenniswood.
The Desecration Of Desire begins with the arresting and abrasive sounds of “Exquisite”, with industrial textures and heavy broken beats immediately grabbing your attention. ‘Is Vic There?’ is a cover of the Department S classic that meant so much to Clarke when growing up, a dark, heavyweight, slow motion slice of new wave with LOUISAHHH’s simmering vocals finishing it in style. On ‘Frisson’, Dave teams up with Matthew Sims AKA Mt. Sims, bringing more moody post-punk tension with its cold and stark drums and rumbling bass, before the driving ‘Plasmatic’ is the closest the album comes to hinting at Clarke’s ‘day job’. On ‘Charcoal Eyes (Glass Tears)’, Dave invited former Queens Of The Stone Age and Screaming Trees legend Mark Lanegan to Amsterdam, where the pair recorded the single that has already proved such a hit. Lanegan also features on ‘Monochrome Sun’, a brain twisting track full of fizzing feedback and distorted drums, while ‘Cover Up My Eyes’ is a paranoid and post-human techno track with vocals courtesy of Anti-Ghost Moon Ray’s Gazelle Twin barely perceptible between the twisted rhythms and dense electronics. Another stand out track on the album is ‘I’m Not Afraid’, with sublime vocals by Anika and bass by Keith Tenniswood AKA Radioactive Man making for an irresistible blend of industrial funk before the grit of ‘Death Of Pythagorus’ makes for a bleak and cinematic end.
This is a coherent and cohesive album that is autobiographical from start to finish: it distills Clarke’s life long love of punk, new wave, noise and industrial into something truly original and wholly spellbinding.

ADE Attracts Record Number of 395,000 Visitors
The 22nd edition of Amsterdam Dance Event was attended by a record number of 395,000 visitors.
With 2,500 artists performing, 7,200 representatives of the worldwide electronic music industry attending the conference and people from over 90 countries, ADE has once again cemented its position as the worlds leading platform for electronic music.
This year Morocco was under the spotlight in this year’s ADE Global View, highlighting the regions growing music scene where musicians are mixing local sounds with dance floor beats. Morocco occupies a unique cultural position: an interface between Africa, Europe and the wider Islamic world, with ancient musical cultures of its own that incorporates deep and rich understanding of dance and repetition. Its modern dance scene is absolutely of the 21st century, though, and whether via young Moroccan producers or via the international festivals that take place in its stunning landscapes, its influence grows year-on-year.
China hosted a special pavilion. It was the first time during ADE a pavilion was built for a country with lectures, forums and debates to present themselves to professionals working in the dance industry. Countries including France and Belgium also took the opportunity to focus extra attention to themselves at this years event.
The development of pavilions of countries, known form Biënnale, will be the next logical step of ADE. During the last 25 years electronic music has grown internationally and mixed with many different genres so It is expected there will be more country pavilions in the future.
More dj’s took part in the ADE Soundlab, giving an insight into their DJ and Studio set ups including Martin Garrix, Richie Hawtin and KiNK, Soulwax and Tiga, Oliver Heldens and more.
The night program also included some ‘cross overs’ with other genres with special productions at unique locations including Underworld performing at the cycle passage of Rijksmuseum, Jameszoo and the Metropole Orchestra, and Colin Benders at Rembrandthuis.
Different ages were also represented at this years ADE. Martin Garrix (20), who was again voted most popular DJ of the world, hosted an all ages-concert, welcoming teenagers and their parents. Also the free festival Hangover, held for the first time at NDSM in the northern part of Amsterdam, was visited by a lot of families. On the closing night the 80 year old composer Philipp Glass performed at the Melkweg in a sold out show.

Underworld to give keynote speech at Amsterdam Dance Event
Underworld to give keynote speech at Amsterdam Dance Event
Followed by live show at Rijksmuseum
Underworld are a true one-off - at home headlining the world’s biggest festivals and events, playing underground techno clubs and warehouses, sound-tracking theatre productions or taking over art galleries, disused shoe shops and Japanese department stores. This year at ADE, the duo talk through their career – both as artists and performers - in a festival keynote presentation:
The World of Underworld
Process and Co-Production
In this talk, Rick Smith and Karl Hyde – collectively Underworld - explore the importance and power of partnership and co-production in the development and presentation of ambitious and exciting projects and events both grand and intimate in the 21st century.
Underworld’s two and a half decade long journey has cemented their reputation as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the electronic music scene. At ADE, Smith and Hyde will talk through key points of their career in a conversation with Robin Turner (Heavenly Social/Caught by the River) that will focus on managing creativity and co-production through the world of music and areas far beyond. One of Underworld’s closest partners - tomato’s Simon Taylor - will provide a visual backdrop to the discussion that will include previously unseen images and footage from the band’s meticulously kept archives.
Having cemented their place in the ’90s underground techno scene, the group’s definitive breakthrough came in 1996 when their timeless anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’ became the soundtrack of a generation after it was featured in the film Trainspotting. The success of that single catapulted the band from the underground into the heart of the mainstream. The following two decades saw them build on that success while never compromising; selling millions of albums, performing countless sold-out shows, providing scores to productions by Academy Award winning directors Anthony Minghella and Danny Boyle, exhibiting in galleries, and sound-tracking the Opening Ceremony to the London 2012 Olympic Games. The critical and commercial success of the band’s Grammy nominated 2016 album ‘Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future’ saw them headline stages at Coachella, Glastonbury and Summer Sonic.
Following the talk, Underworld will play a unique gig for ADE at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum on 20th October, in a rare opportunity to see the group’s peerless live show up close as the space is transformed into an intimate club venue.

THE GREAT ESCAPE 2018 ANNOUNCES THE NETHERLANDS AS ITS LEAD INTERNATIONAL PARTNER
Forget everything you thought you knew about music in the Netherlands. There’s a whole world beyond that one cacophonously hazy Gabber House night you think you went to in Amsterdam that one time but were too stoned to remember. And it’s all coming to the UK.
The Great Escape, the festival for new music, is excited to announce that the Netherlands will be its lead international partner in 2018. The Great Escape alongside the Dutch Music Export will be highlighting The Netherland’s music industry with performances from an array of the country’s most prominent rising stars.
The Great Escape is internationally renowned for breaking the best and brightest new talent from around the world here in the UK. For over 13 years the festival’s international partnerships have played a key part reinforcing this ethos, enabling new artists from diverse music markets to showcase their talents in front of The Great Escape’s extensive audience of influential industry delegates and festival go-ers.
The Dutch Music Export is a longstanding partner at The Great Escape festival, since year one the Dutch Impact party has been a highlight in the convention programme. For thirteen years Dutch artists have provided festival go-ers with many incredible and memorable performances, previous artists include; Jameszoo, Klangstof, Amber Arcades, Dope D.O.D and Jacco Gardner.
Booked to play The Great Escape and FIRST FIFTY this year is eighteen-year-old Dutch/Kurdish singer/songwriter Naaz, influenced by her migrant background she will relay tales of personal struggle and will capture audiences with her distinctive, haunting voice. Joining her is Amsterdam’s Pitou who is renowned for her dazzling array of influences, ranging from Bulgarian choir music to Sparklehorse and Joni Mitchell. Her highly anticipated self-titled debut EP was released last year on Scottish/Dutch label Mink Records and was greeted with national and international critical acclaim. Many more thrilling Dutch artists will be announced over the coming months.
Pitou said: "With Holland being the lead country at The Great Escape 2018 it's very exciting to have this opportunity which enables me to represent my home at this wonderful event by simply playing my music.”
Previous lead international partnerships have included the likes of Canada (2006), New Zealand (2009), France (2007) and Switzerland (2017), bringing acts such as Alvvays, Broods, Christine and the Queens and Carnival Youth to the UK.
Rudd Berends, Dutch Music Export Producer, commented: “Dutch Music Export is proud to be the focus country at TGE 2018. Our country has supported and attended TGE from year one with both the Dutch Impact Party and through various promotional support for our artists and industry. The UK is one of the most important countries for us to present the best the Lowlands has to offer and The Great Escape provides the best platform to showcase, support and promote Dutch musical talent to not only the UK but international music industries and audiences.
This partnership is made possible by the coming together of Dutch Music Export, powered by Eurosonic Noorderslag, Dutch Performing Arts and Buma Cultuur, with the kind support by the embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
Rory Bett, MAMA CEO said ‘At last we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our strongest most longstanding partners, The Netherlands. Since the birth of TGE in 2006 the DME has worked alongside us to bring the best Dutch artists to the festival, our convention and line-up has grown from strength to strength with their support and incredible music scene. 2018 is the perfect time to put the very best The Netherlands has to offer at the forefront of our festival!”

Danish acts are regular winners of the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA) with a host of acts such as Agnes Obel, Lukas Graham and MØ who have gone onto to have strong international careers.
Read more about the Danish acts in this announcement below. More Danish acts will be announced later.
August Rosenbaum (dk)
Danish pianist, composer and songwriter August Rosenbaum recently cooperated with Kim Gordon (ex Sonic Youth) on a score for the Royal Danish Ballet. He delivers an experimental cross-over of jazz and modern classical music.
BAEST (dk)
BAEST plays hard hitting death metal on thrash guitars, driven by the infamous ‘buzzsaw’ guitar tone used by Bloodbath and Entombed. Those Swedish death metal icons are, together with Morbid Angel (US), the main influences of this young band from Aarhus.
Off Bloom (dk)
Off Bloom understand what modern times are asking for. They threw out the rule book to create unconventional, eccentric and future-proof pop music, just like their influences such as Hudson Mohawke, Baauer, Major Lazer and AlunaGeorge also did. Eager to offer some glimmer of hope and solace in a dark world, this Danish trio and their inventive take on pop could very well be part of music's future.
Soleima (dk)
Soleima lives in a dreamlike modern world where garage and pop are just as cool as electronic and R&B. Her fragile sultry vocals and warm melodies connect with the organic electronic beats to form an irresistible combination. There is no doubt that Soleima’s music will get youths all over singing in the bathroom and moving on the dance floor.
Velvet Volume (dk)
Three sisters from Aarhus form the extravagant rockband Velvet Volume. Twins Noa, Naomi and younger sister Nataja started playing music at the age of three and five. In 2013 Velvet Volume was born, influenced by acts like Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, QOTSA and White Stripes (the outfits!) and since then they have taken the country by storm.
School of X (dk)
Rasmus Littauer, the man behind School of X and drummer for artists like MØ and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour takes the front with his new solo-project. Influences from Portishead, Lana Del Rey and Anohni to Frank Ocean simmer through his warm alternative pop and triphop.
We like We (dk)
The experimental neo classical group We like We consists of four classically trained musicians. Through their collaborative compositions We Like We wants to create music travelling beyond the grid of genres.
