The Prodigy Join EXIT Festival Line Up

One of the most influential electronic bands in the world, The Prodigy, will perform at EXIT Festival on Sunday, 10 July! After the urgent poll to bring one of the most popular bands in the world to Serbia this summer, in which no less than 92% out of 25,000 people said “Yes!” loud and clear, reached them, the band decided to brake deadlock and added a fourth consecutive tour date during the second week of July, and allowing them to perform, in their own words, on their favorite festival! Liam, Keith and Maxim personally addressed the audience: “Exit Warriors, you wanted us and we’re coming! We are gathering at the Fortress, so be there! See you all! Peace!”

After 25 years, The Prodigy, together with their last studio album “The Day is My Enemy”, found themselves for the sixth consecutive time in first place of UK’s top selling albums chart, an accomplishment achieved by no other band, except the Beatles. During their last tour, The Prodigy performed on almost every great festival from Australia to America, including stadiums, arenas, and the largest concert venues from Japan to Argentina. Tireless, they visited over 30 countries. They still have 15 countries left until the end of their tour and on 10 July Serbia will be one of them!

MDRNTY launch MDRNTY+ More exclusive, more innovative, more crazy. More.

Working with his traditional partner KENT, MDRNTY launches a second version of the MDRNTY concept. More exclusive, more plugged in and even more unforgettable, MDRNTY+ is a DJ session restricted to a handful of people, in a venue very restricted in size and filmed with 360° technology to live the moment online. After a hot-air balloon flight over Zürich with Magda the queen of minimal, MDNRTY is offering a unique experience during the 2016 Festival: Thrill to Nina Kraviz, Jamie Jones and Guy Gerber live in the télécabine of the remontée des Violettes at Crans-Montana, on respectively the 8th, 9th and 10th April.

"Since its beginnings in 2009 with MDRNTY, we’ve always looked for quirky, unusual exclusive places, where we can welcome the best in electronic music" explains Maxime Léonard, the festival director.  "Our success with this concept has made MDRNTY an unmissable event, wherever it takes place and one of the great attractions of the Festival. Today, with MDRNTY+, we’d like to offer to certain guests a concentrated version of what’s best about MDRNTY : the exceptional nature of the environment, the best of electronic music live and a crazy atmosphere."

The Polish artist Magda together with 15 guests have kicked off this new concept during a live session in a hot-air balloon a few hundred meters above Zürich. The whole thing filmed with 360° cameras, this MDRNTY+ first will naturally be put online on the opening day of the Caprices Festival but what’s even better, the public will be able to experience this extraordinary moment in a dedicated space thanks to a total immersion experience with virtual reality headsets. That’s how the greatest number of people will be able to share and enjoy such an exclusive moment.

Watch the amazing video of Magda djing  in the hot air balloon here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4TE2sBrt18&feature=youtu.be

"Thanks to avant-garde virtual reality technology , we wanted to give everyone the chance to be in the centre of one of the most exclusive dance floors in the world" Maxime Léonard said.

A bit crazy, totally unique and exclusive. Unforgettable. 100% MDRNTY.

OFF Festival Katowice 2016: A Whole World of Music

The OFF Festival has always been home to a wide (and alternative) variety of world music, but the genre has had a special place here since 2014, when we honored the memory of Oskar Kolberg. As in years past, the Experimental Stage will devote one whole day to traditional artists: both those who cultivate that tradition and those who contest it. This year be sure to check out Odpoczno, Islam Chipsy, Ata Kak, Janusz Prusinowski Kompania, Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics, and Jambina.

Odpoczno
This isn’t going to be one of those relaxing concerts: you’re going to have trouble standing still. Get ready for passionate interpretations of folk music from the Opoczno area. While Odpoczno clearly borrow from traditional music, their creative approach adds elements such as jazz and improvisation. The quartet consists of musicians from very different backgrounds: Joanna Gancarczyk is a singer who honed her craft under the eye of village musicians; Marek Kądziela is an excellent jazz guitarist, Piotr Gwadera plays drums for L. Stadt and Mister D., while violinist Marcin Lorenc has been known to play the mazurka with the likes of Maciej Filipczuk.

Islam Chipsy
We have no idea how to describe the insane music played by Islam Chipsy and his trio EEK, but the reviewers at the world’s leading music websites can’t seem to figure it out, either. One thing is sure: hailing from Cairo’s underground music scene, this producer creates things that are absolutely unique and fascinating. Cacophonous and almost grotesque keyboard lines, frenetic drumming, and traditional Arab melodies come together on their debut album Kahraba. Expect to see more of the same — but more intense — at their live show.

Ata Kak
Were you moved by Sugarman’s story? Then get a load of this: In 1994 a certain Yaw Atta-Owusu from Ghana self-published a fascinating album titled Obaa Sima, combining dance and Afro-house with original rap. The record was released in an astounding run of 50 cassettes… and then the trail went cold. In 2002 the American collector Brian Shimkovitz bought a copy during a visit to Africa and was so enthralled with it that he started a now-famous blog (and later a label) devoted to popularizing music from that corner of the world: Awesome Tapes From Africa. Shimkovitz searched for the artist in vain until 2014, when he finally discovered that Yaw Atta-Owusa had been living in Canada, was doing find, and was ready to head out on tour. Obaa Sima was officially re-issued last year, and we’ll get to see Ata Kak this August in Katowice. It’s a small world after all…

Janusz Prusinowski Kompania
The band describes itself as the disciples and successors of village musicians, but they’re also an avant-garde act with an original sound and their own improvisational language. They speak the truth. Led by Janusz Prusinowski, the group creates original and compelling reinterpretations of folk music from central Poland: hence the enthusiastic reviews of the albums Mazurki, Serce, and Po kolana w niebie, as well as warm receptions from audiences all over the world. If you’re the kind of person who wouldn’t be caught dead dancing the mazurka, we hope to see you front and center, and we’re willing to bet you’ll give it a shot.

Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics
It’s a true honor to host at the OFF Festival one of the pioneers of Afrobeat, a veteran of African jazz, the outstanding Nigerian saxophone player Orlando Julius. His 1966 release Super Afro Soul has been credited as a main source of inspiration not just by Fela Kuti (a bandmate of Julius’s at the time!), but also by the heroes of American funk music, who borrowed wholesale from Orlando’s ideas. But get ready for more than just reminiscences at this show, because the Nigerian legend is still writing and recording. To hear what he’s been up to, check out his 2014 release Jaiede Afro.

Jambinai
We rarely get to hear any interesting music from South Korea, but if they have any other bands as brilliant and original as Jambinai, then we have some catching up to do. The creators of the dreamy yet noisy album Différance have found an entirely unique way of combining their country’s musical heritage — also expressed through the use of traditional Korean instruments — with the apocalyptic force of post rock. This is going to keep you up at night.

Other additions to the festival line-up include:

Goat
Goat (the one from Japan, this time) features a lineup that’s guaranteed to leave you trembling. An electric guitar, saxophone, bass, and drums are always a sure sign of noise, and this band is no different. Just know that Goat likes to shape its noise into seductive, trance-inducing patterns. All of this makes Koshior Hino’s compositions at once urban and tribal.

Jenny Hval
Jenny Hval has conjured up quite an extraordinary world. Music this intimate, personal, and rich is a rare find indeed, but the sheer talent displayed by the Norwegian artist is all the more unique. No wonder she’s managed to pull some famous names into her sphere of musical hallucinations, including Jaga Jazzist’s Øystein Moen and Thor Harris of Swans. Her career began to pick up steam following the release of the album Innocence is Kinky (Rune Grammofon), while the record Apocalypse, girl merely cemented her standing among Scandinavia’s leading visionaries.

OFF Festival Katowice 2016 line-up (announced so far):
Devendra Banhart, Anohni, The Kills, Mudhoney, GZA, Lush, GusGus, Thundercat, Minor Victories, Kiasmos, Napalm Death, Jaga Jazzist, SBB plays „Nowy Horyzont“, Sleaford Mods, DJ Koze, Zomby, Lightning Bolt, Andrew Weatherall b2b Roman Flügel, Brodka, Kaliber 44, Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics, Liima, Daniel Avery, Clutch, Mutoid Man, Powell, Zimpel/Ziołek, Basia Bulat, Janusz Prusinowski Kompania, Syny, Beach Slang, Willis Earl Beal, Jenny Hval, Flatbush Zombies, Machinedrum, Yung Lean, Mass Gothic, Jambinai, Islam Chipsy, Show Me The Body, Ata Kak, Goat, Fidlar, Odpoczno, Rosa Vertov.

It’s the first festival with our new logo. It’s the first evening of the Festival. We wanted to present a line up of acts at the very top of their game and these five will really get Moon going, promised the director. » Other acts lined up for Moon over the following days : Tale of Us, Âme, Rødhåd, Recondite, Mind Against, Michel Cleis, Väth, Maceo Plex, Eats Everything, Ilario Alicante, Tim Green, Adolpho & Franky, Nicolas Duvoisin et Alci.

Having become the symbol of Caprices, the MDRNTY stage invites you to buzz to the sound of Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Nastia, Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh or Preslea, all set against the unique and breathtaking views that the Valaisan station offers. After the dance floor of MDRNTY gets going with this line-up on the 8th and 9th April, on Sunday the 10th Caprices has asked Guy Gerber, Mathew Johnson, Stimming et Ryan Crosson to animate the mountain peaks a day which will also be one of the last ski afternoons of the season. « this will be the last chance of the season to take in this exceptional view whilst partying to the very latest in electronic music , explains Maxime Léonard. Unforgettable. »

Strengthened by the success of previous festivals OFF, this year Caprices has chosen again to let the public enjoy this third offering 100% free. Presented by Charles Favres’ son, this happening for all age groups will take place over the week-ends of the 2-3 and 8-9 of April in the centre of Crans-Montana in the company of DJs and the live group Igor Blaska, Vkee, Macao and loads of others.

ABOUT DAVE CLARKE
He may be known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by renowned BBC Radio DJ / journalist John Peel, but Dave Clarke has an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul, having no truck with establishment figures or authoritarianism.

A hard working purist, forward thinking futurist, technology geek, part Gothic and gadget lover who embraced the digital revolution in an early stage while his peers where still sniffing the smell of vinyl, a format he hasn’t used professionally in eleven years. It’s unsurprising he revels in the libertarianism of the World Wide Web. It gives symmetry to his savvy techno vision.

As a talented DJ and producer Dave Clarke will continue his newfound love for making music, gather air miles by the gallon and preach his vision on techno both on the decks and on the radio, whilst never forgetting the long and bumpy journey he had to undertake to get where he is now: on top of the game, respected by both fans and peers and very much relevant in today’s scene. “He might be established, but he will never be establishment”. http://www.daveclarke.com/

 ABOUT TOMORROWLAND
This year over 400 artists will once again be appearing on the various colourful stages that have been constructed in the spectacular festival park De Schorre in Boom. For three whole days, 180,000 visitors will immerse themselves in a magical world.

The fairytale decor, gigantic dance valley, incredible fireworks and the best DJs in the world will provide an experience like no other. Tomorrowland 2015 will take place from 22 – 24 July.  More info here: http://www.tomorrowland.com/

OFF Festival Katowice 2016: Devendra Bahnart, Kiasmos, Basia Bulat and Rosa Vertov

Musical trips come in all shapes and sizes. They can be contemplated under the California sun, on the picturesque Island, enchanted into pop songs in Canada, or wrapped up in distorted guitars in a Warsaw garage. Devendra Banhart, Basia Bulat, and Rosa Vertov are here to explain.

Devendra Banhart
It's impossible to sum up in just a few sentences the phenomemon that is Devendra Banhart, a versatile artist who borrows freely from different cultures, eras, and artistic trends, combining them into a new and original whole. Part of a movement known as New Weird America, his art is a marriage of music and visual arts in which North American folk resonates with Latin beats, while psychedelic hippy trips contrast with his intimate, contemporary lo-fi style. His new album, the successor to the excellent record Mala, is already in the pipeline, which means we can expect Devendra to reveal a new facet of his fascinating world this August in Katowice.

Kiasmos
The incorrigible dreamer Ólafur Arnalds is well known as the composer of beautiful neoclassical and ambient sonic landscapes, but you've probably also heard his reinterpretations of Chopin or the soundtrack to the TV series Broadchurch. Janus Rasmussen, meanwhile, is the backbone of the excellent electropop act Bloodgroup. The two met in the studio when Arnalds was brought in as a producer for some Bloodgroup recordings, but they soon realized that their collaborative ideas required a whole new format. Thus Kiasmos was born: an Icelandic duo that won the hearts of electronic music fans with their unique take on emotional minimal techno. You can only imagine what their music is going sound like under the clear August skies in Katowice...

Basia Bulat
A Canadian of Polish descent who, like Devendra, practices the enigmatic art of freak folk, though her newest album, Good Advice, released last month, would more aptly be described as freak pop: clever, catchy songs brimming with energy, always with a second, intriguing layer. Produced by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, the record isn't just a worthy successor to Tall Tall Shadow (nominated to both the Polaris and Juno awards), but is also a step towards a broader audience for this singer and multi-instrumentalist. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Rosa Vertov
They may be four young girls from Warsaw, but they don't get an easy pass for being a “girl band.” Though they just appeared on the scene, Rosa Vertov will surprise you with their attitude and original vision. But don't take our word for it: dive into the straightforward yet disturbing songs on their debut EP, released in September 2015 — on cassette only, for now. Look out for their new single any day now. And after their OFF Festival performance… well we don't know what to expect, but we're dying to find out.
