Pretty Lights is hitting the festival circuit in the UK and Europe this summer, with stops at many major festivals including Sonar (Barcelona), IMS (Ibiza), Glastonbury (UK), Exit Festival (Serbia), Melt! Festival (Germany), Rock In Rio (Portugal), Garorock (France), Emmaboda Festival (Sweden), Tomorrowland (Netherlands) and Hove Festival (Norway). In addition to festival shows, the GRAMMY-nominated artist will also perform headlining shows in Paris and Ibiza. For the first time ever in Europe, Pretty Lights will bring a full stage production and all of the visual elements that take the Pretty Lights experience to the next level. With more dates still to be announced, this is set to be the biggest international Pretty Lights tour to date!
The 2014 International Music Summit (IMS – Ibiza) Anthem will also be produced by Pretty Lights, continuing the annual IMS Anthem tradition where the track is made and remixed in front of the delegation. Past acts that have had the honour of creating the IMS anthem include Nile Rodgers and Groove Armada.
The legendary Rick Rubin has described Pretty Lights as “the face and voice of the new American electronic music scene” and Rolling Stone praised A Color Map of the Sun as a “uniquely crafted, groove-centric head trip.” The album was also nominated for a GRAMMY in the Best Dance/Electronica Album category. To produce A Color Map of the Sun, Smith spent a year composing and recording music and vocals that emulated genres and time periods that spanned the last century, then pressed it to vinyl. He sampled that vinyl along with a massive custom built analog modular synth to create A Color Map of the Sun. The second disc of the double-CD set, entitled Live Studio Sessions From A Color Map of the Sun, contains 13 raw tracks from the live recording sessions.
Tracks from A Color Map of the Sun have racked up more than 23,000,000 cumulative plays across all major streaming services. Over 207,000 downloads of A Color Map of the Sun and nearly 61,000 downloads of Live Sessions have been distributed via www.prettylightsmusic.com. The album will see its official release across the UK and Europe this summer.
