Having announced their very special collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurant The Jane, WECANDANCE Festival today reveals the fifteen exclusiveWECANDANCE signature dishes, created by many of Belgium’s leading chefs and culinary masterminds.

Taking place from 13-14 August 2016, on the sun-kissed golden sands of Zeebrugge Beach in Belgium, WECANDANCE fuses together the very best in music, food, art and style for a one-of-a-kind festival experience. Acts performing at this year’s edition include Dixon, Jamie Jones, DJ Tennis, along with a whole host of electronic and hip hop talent.

Food is a big part of the #WCD16 experience, with an exceptional level of quality food available. Visitors will be able to choose from a wide range of signature dishes developed by many of Belgium’s leading restaurants and chefs, inspired by this year’s festival theme of Space.

THE JANE
For those who want to opt for that little extra, WECANDANCE are delighted to welcome revered restauranteurs The Jane, where the lucky few can savour a tastebud-tingling meal, prepared by celebrated chefs Sergio Herman and Nick Bril. For this occasion Sergio Herman and Nick Bril will close their doors in Antwerp and move their entire staff to WECANDANCE for two entire days. Drinks specialists and master mixologists Pure C will also be providing spacey cocktails.

BALLS & GLORY
Balls & Glory has been indelible to the culinary scene in Belgium. This slow-food concept values time and patience while preparing a variety of healthy balls, meat or veggie, with seasonal ingredients. For WECANDANCE, they will serve a Green Cosmo Ball, filled with green peas and a finishing touch of mint. A salad of zucchini, quinoa, humus and lemon balm will balance out this dish perfectly.

BLEND
Blend is not only a combination of two brothers, but also of different concepts. Kamiel and Hendrik, each with a different background, our brought together by their shared passion in food, drinks and music. This year, they will serve delicious Planetary Patatas with chorizo and mousseline. To soften those southern spicey flavours, this will be complimented by a fresh ice pop cocktail shaped like a Calippo.

CAPRIANI
When visiting Il Capriani, you will feel the Italian summer wash over you in a homely setting. Their authentic Italian dishes prove that they’re passionate about southern flavours that please young as well as old. The #WCD16-menu will be completed with a Dark Pizza by Il Capriani. A crispy pizzabottom will be covered in a black-olive cream, soft mozzarella, spicey salami and red onion. The salty and spicey flavours balance out perfectly.

CARCASSE
Carcasse’s chefs Nicolas and Hendrik make sure that their quality meat goes directly from the butcher’s into their kitchen so they can tell you the story of the origin of the meat and ho wit was bred and fed. For WECANDANCE, these two chefs developed the Pastrami Shuttle. With the streets of New York as their inspiration, their West-Flanders Red Meat will be the perfect match for fresh flavoured foccacia, parmesan and sour cream.

CHYL
Chyl wants to carry out a different lifestyle based on consuming differently on the daily. What’s in a name? Change Your Lifestyle, then CHerish Your Life. Using organic products and reducing the use of packaging brings them one step closer to that goal. They will serve a vegetarian summer dish that will give you the right amount of energy to keep dancing all night long. A combination of Manouche bread, tahini, humus of red beet, green falafel, avocado, goat cheese, rocket salad and red onion will lift you up to the seventh heaven.

ESSENCE
Essence stands for sustainability and a healthy, plant-based cuisine with recipes that burst with energy. See it as fresh comfort food in the form of colourful plates packed with flavour. They will be coming out with the Burger Lost In Space, made with sprouted pecan and salad, pickled onions, cucumber, almond slices, sweet potato and carrot, topped off with curry and barbecue flavours.

JEAN SUR MER
Honest, sustainable, seasonal and fresher to the bone is what can be said about Jean Sur Mer. They only bring the best of the North Sea on a plate, whether it’s streetfood, sharing food or an eight-course dinner. Jean Sur Mer will present you with the Smokey Fish Taco for #WCD16, with smoked mackerel in the spotlight, topped off with sour and salty flavours. A perfect dish to discover at thebeach of Zeebrugge!

MONDADA
Mondada started out as a business where you could go for a healthy and fresh meal at any time of the day. Their WCD-signature dish is no different. A Lebanese bulgur salad and spicy roasted beef and chicken on a stick together with humus, grilled naan bread and a hot dip make up their Solar Stick dish for #WCD16.

NXT DOOR
Step into the world of Nxt Door, a concept by chefs Tom Mestdagh, Tom Vermeulen and Jeroen Borglevens. They serve you the best streetfood in town with their own touch to it. They prefer new, surprising and pure flavours brought to you from all over the world in the form tapas. For WECANDANCE, they hold onto their streetfood concept and present you their Terrestrial Tapa. The fish wrapped in a Japanese breadcrumb tortilla makes up a perfect marriage for a good bite as well as a soft touch.

OESTERPUT
De Oesterput, already thirty years old, holds strong to traditional products that receive a modern touch thanks to the new generation. The Devriendt brothers want to carry on their parents’ name and restaurant. They are continually experimenting, outside as well as inside of their own kitchen. You can find them more often outside of the restaurant, from your own living room to festivals like WECANDANCE. For this beach festival, they created the Mercurry, a delicious lobster burger with a curry mayonnaise instead of the classic cocktail sauce, finished with poppy seed and onions.

ROMAIN ROQUETTE
It was almost a year ago that Romain Roquette opened its doors in Ghent. Mathieu, Maxime and Brecht, three friends a.k.a. the Salad Boys, brought a new concept to Belgium. They wanted to serve salads that fit perfectly in a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on quality, flavour and balance. WECANDANCE is a perfect match with these three friends born and bred by the sea. It was a chance to play with the flavours of smoked trout and salty salicornia, mixed with bulgur, earthy beetroot, a dressing of sour apple, spinach, Spanish radish, wasabi crunch and of course, rocket salad.

SANDER JAN BEIRENS
Sander-Jan, founder of SJB Private Catering, was born and bred in the fields where he developed his love for local seasonal products. Now, he uses that to produce his own handmade croquettes. Discover his Crusty Shrimp at our Food Market: a pimped and extra crusty classic shrimp croquette.

UMAMI
Umami, created in 2012,brings a unique mix of Asian flavours to the table, with Japanese, Chinese and even Indian influences, all with a contemporary touch. After four years, Umami can be considered a reference in Antwerp. Every day, their team strives to create the best experience for their clients. For WECANDANCE, Umami has created a new dish called ͞Full Moon Curry͟. Strong Indian spices and a fresh Thai finishing touch together with baked rice will make for a sensational Asian food experience.

WOW
If you’re up for a healthy meal, you can definitely go to WOW where you’ll find a plethora of classic salads. Or you can just make your own salad with their day-fresh products. For WECANDANCE, they will take you to Greece with their Saturn Salad. A mixolives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, marinated feta, red onion and a lovely dressing.
