Katy Perry joins Tomorrowland Around the World, the digital festival, line-up

Katy’s set will be a breath-taking visual spectacle featuring some of her greatest hits, as well as brand-new music from her upcoming album, “Smile”

Global pop superstar Katy Perry will perform a spectacular and unprecedented show at Tomorrowland Around the World, the digital festival. One of the best-selling musical artists of all time, Katy will dazzle the People of Tomorrow across the globe in an eye-popping visual spectacle full of special effects, delivering a breath-taking show of her greatest hits which shaped 21st century pop music as well as brand new music from her fifth album, “Smile," which is set to be released on August 14.

Tomorrowland Around the World brings together more than 60 of the planet’s most prominent artists in electronic dance music on 8 different stages, and as Tomorrowland now teams up with Katy Perry, the worlds of electronic dance music and pop will collide in one of the most spectacular ways possible. The global chart-dominating American singer has previously worked together on songs with world class DJs and producers Zedd and Calvin Harris, while her iconic tracks (“I Kissed A Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “Roar,” “Dark Horse”, and more) have been remixed by some of dance music’s top producers, including Tiësto, Oliver Heldens, R3HAB, Kaskade, Tommie Sunshine, Benny Bennassi, and many more.

In her 12 years with Capitol, Katy has racked up a cumulative 40 billion streams alongside worldwide sales of over 45 million adjusted albums and 135 million tracks. She was the first to reach 100 million followers on Twitter. Katy’s 2015 Super Bowl performance is the highest-rated in the event’s history. Katy was the first female artist to have four videos surpass a billion views each. Her videos for “Firework” and “Last Friday Night” have over one billion views, while “Dark Horse” has surpassed the two billion mark. “Roar” now has over three billion views.

Katy Perry: "I’ve always wanted to be a part of the fun of Tomorrowland, and have been following the amazing innovation, technology, and invention that this festival has always been about for a long time. I’m so glad to be a part of this version, and I hope my set makes you smile."

Katy Perry jumped on a video call earlier today with the world-famous Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix to announce her performance at the digital festival to the world.

EXIT Festival Reschedules to 2021

As you may know, earlier this spring, the Serbian Prime Minister had asked EXIT not to cancel the festival but rather postpone it to mid-August. At that time, the number of new daily cases was on a steady sharp decline and even our most cautious health experts believed that zero number of cases would be reached in June, almost two months before the new festival date in August. During this time, the whole of Serbia was also fully reopened, with no restrictions in an open-air public gathering and all borders were open.

Unfortunately, during the past few weeks, there has been the development of the epidemic with an increase of new daily cases in several municipalities in Serbia that were put under strict restrictions.

The EXIT team has followed the current situation of the epidemic closely, always keeping in mind the safety and health of all visitors, artists and team members. That is why it was decided first to drastically reduce the festival capacity in order to make sure that everything would be as safe as possible. However, since the health situation has not improved yet after the second spike in cases, organisers have made the decision that the 20 year celebration of EXIT Festival will not take place from 13 to 16 August this year at Petrovaradin Fortress.

In the meantime, EXIT is considering options to mark this important year for the festival with a symbolic event in September which will focus on an online stream that will include the LIFE stream and Green R:Evolution platform, the festival’s biggest environmental project so far. https://www.exitfest.org/en/life-stream/

It has not been an easy decision to make, but, the health and safety of festival goers, artists and all our team members paramount and under the current circumstances, this was the best decision to make.

EXIT has gone through many challenges. This is one of the greatest of all, but as always we will prevail and we still hope that soon we will be able to send a positive message of hope to all colleagues, friends, festival community and fans to strive on and that we will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

On this day 20 years ago, EXIT was born!

EXIT Noise Summer Fest was launched on June 29, 2000 in the park of the University of Novi Sad with performances by Urban Guerrilla, DJ Fakir and Dee Fejs. The festival lasted almost 100 days during which free concerts, parties, performances, film screenings, exhibitions, tribunes, performances were held every day. It was founded by a group of students with the intention of creating a movement for peace and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans, The project was conceived as an alternative cultural model to the one launched during the 1990s by state and parastate media with the aim of motivating young people to go to the polls in which the regime of Slobodan Milosevic was finally overthrown.

EXIT Noise Summer Fest 2000: https://youtu.be/DQxm7Pqcjug

The festival had two stages, "Šuma" (Wood), located in the park where the concerts were held and "Reka" (River) on the bank of the Danube where the best local DJs performed. At that time, no one could have imagined that these two stages, only a year later would grow into the Main Stage and the Dance Arena (originally called the DJ stage) of one of the biggest international music festivals at the beautiful Petrovaradin Fortress. The festival lasted for nine days in 2001, while in 2003 it was declared the State of EXIT, after which the festival received its recognizable form of four days.

For the past 20 years, the world’s leading media outlets such as the Guardian, CNN, BBC, The Times and many others have reported on Exit as one of the most prestigious festivals in the world. EXIT was officially proclaimed “Best Major European Festival” at the EU Festival Awards 2013 and 2017, while No Sleep Festival held in Belgrade, the youngest member of the EXIT festival family, took home the “Best New Festival” title at the European Festival Awards 2019. Also, EXIT’s Montenegrin edition Sea Dance Festival won the “Best Mid-Sized European festival” award in 2015. The European Festival Award is considered as one of the most influential festival awards in the world. EXIT has also won the “Best Overseas Festival” award at the UK Festival Awards in 2007, as well as “Best Summer Music Festival in Europe” title for 2016 by the travel portal “European Best Destinations” awarded in cooperation with the European Commission. In March 2018 Regional Cooperation Council awarded EXIT Festival as Champion of Regional Cooperation for 2017.

With regional festivals that have become perhaps the largest cultural bridge of Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and other countries, EXIT crowned its mission of connecting the region, which has been at the core of its existence since the beginning when in 2001, when all young people from all over the Balkans for the first time since the wars met at the same place at the Petrovaradin Fortress. At that time, many destroyed bridges were rebuilt, but also new friendships were created that have lasted for two decades. Social responsibility is still the key aspect of the festival activities, with the main focus on environmental and humanitarian activities, the creative industries development, as well as regional cooperation. Through EXT Foundation, part of the EXIT Festival team that focuses on social activism, over 1000 activities, actions, campaigns and projects were organised in last two decades among which the “Youth Heroes” campaign, aiming to promote positive examples to the youth of Serbia, as well the campaign to abolish Schengen visas in 2009, when the then European Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn pointed out the "State of EXIT" certificate he received as the best memory from Serbia. Two big humanitarian projects  that stand out are humanitarian football match "Aces for children" and EXIT AID 2014. "Aces for children'' gathered Serbian football legends such as Radomir Antic, Bora Milutinovic, Predrag Mijatovic, Dejan Stankovic and others playing together for the same purpose – raising funds for the construction of a Niš clinical ward for children with cancer.   Over 120,000 euros were raised at this match.  EXIT AID, a program for assistance to those who were hit by unprecedented floods, marked the social work of the EXIT Foundation in 2014. Over 140,000 euros were raised. Last year EXIT started the environmental platform Green R: Evolution, within which Serbia committed to raise the country's afforestation by planting almost 1 billion trees in the forthcoming years, with Serbia’s forests expected to increase from 28 percent to 40 percent of the country’s total surface area.

EXIT has so far generated 200 million euros in tourist income to the Serbian economy, while the value of the country's international promotion, according to experts, is invaluable.

In its 20 years of existence, EXIT hosted some of the leading names of the international music scene, including The Prodigy, The Cure, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys,  David Guetta, Skrillex, Migos, White Stripes, Moby, Martin Garrix, Avicii, Carl Cox, Guns N' Roses, LCD Soundsystem, Sex Pistols, Motörhead, Slayer, Robert Plant, Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, Liam Gallagher,  Beastie Boys,  Ellie Goulding, Faith No More, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Iggy Pop, The Chemical Brothers, Eric Prydz,  Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Solomun, Nina Kraviz, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sven Väth and many many others.

EXIT festival will be held from August 13 to 16 at the Petrovaradin Fortress, after the Serbian Prime Minister asked the EXIT festival not to cancel but move to August. Following all health and government guidelines, EXIT will open at least 20 stages and zones throughout the expansive Petrovaradin Fortress. After the Serbian Prime Minister asked the EXIT festival not to cancel but move to August, the organizers are working round the clock to create a special and meaningful event for the 20th birthday edition. With the dates set for EXIT to take place from 13 to 16 August, the first wave of more than 30 performers are announced including Amelie Lens, Black Coffee, Nina Kraviz, Paul Kalkbrenner, Boris Brejcha, Tale Of Us, Robin Schulz, Ofenbach and Laibach. Roni Size who headlined the festival 20 years ago, will also perform an exclusive B2B set with LTJ Bukem feat. EXIT resident MC Dynamite, to name a few.   All artists will be coming together to play at one of the world’s best loved and award-winning festivals that started as a peace and freedom movement back in 2000.

When EXIT called for unity last November publishing a 2020 campaign that shows different races and ethnicities combined together in a single human face, no one could have predicted that it would be as relevant as it is today.

"With everything that is happening in the world today, the social message of EXIT, unfortunately, seems as important as it was 20 years ago. Back then we were exiting the oppressive regime and fighting for peace and freedom in Serbia and Balkans. Now, 20 years later, we wish to send a message of hope to the world that worst is behind us when the pandemic is concerned, but also stress that there is so much work we all need to do when the things like racial inequalities or the destruction of our planet are concerned" - said founder and CEO of EXIT festival Dušan Kovačević.

Many of the leading music industry figures are naming this year’s festival edition as a “beacon of light” for the recovery for the event industry.  Following all health and government guidelines,  EXIT will open at least 20 stages and zones throughout the expansive Petrovaradin Fortress. One of the main precautionary measures, the number of attendees will be limited to 50%, in an area that can hold at least 90% of its usual capacity.

The Main Stage will be in its usual place on the central plateau of the Petrovaradin Fortress, ready to host spectacular performances by global and regional superstars such as Laibach, Robin Schulz, Roni Size b2b LTJ Bukem feat. Dynamite MC, Ofenbach, Burak Yeter, DJ Regard and many more to be announced. All of them will be joined by the region’s finest bands such as Obojeni Program, Buč Kesidi, Massimo, Goblini, and many more who will be just as interesting replacements for some of the many live tours that are no longer available to book before 2021.

Festival’s energetic hub, the colossal mts Dance Arena, which according to many is the most spectacular electronic music stage on Earth, will host some of the world’s biggest artists including Black Coffee, Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, Paul Kalkbrenner, Denis Sulta, Boris Brejcha, Tale Of Us, ARTBAT, Dax J, Kobosil, DJ Tennis, Meduza , Marko Nastić, After Affair b2b Kristijan Molnar, Andrew Meller, Lag b2b Insolate, Ilija Djokovic, Coeus, Space Motion, Reblok and many more.  It’s that special moment when the sun's rays shine over the fortress walls and your favorite tune is belting through the sound system and into your soul, which will once again make the festival experience unforgettable yet again.

The neighbouring No Sleep Novi Sad stage, that gained incredible international praise in the past five years, leading to the launch of its own festival in Belgrade each November, returns in August with its first acts such as Juliana Huxtable, Francois X, Marcel Dettmann, VTSS b2b SPFDJ, 999999999 Live, Monosaccharide, Bokee and many more to follow in the coming days.

In addition to the biggest stages, EXIT magic would not be possible without several iconic stages such as Aqua Viva Latino Stage, hip-hop fans favourite Beats Stage, drum and bass music spot XBass Pit stage. Another stage showcasing the local and regional DJ scene Urban Bug, will also be present this year as will AS FM powered by Guarana and Gaia eXperiment Trance. In addition to leisure and refreshment zones, a special place this year will be occupied by Pachamama zone, while the historical meeting place, for this year’s special edition, will be the Wenti Wadada Reggae Stage.

More artists will be joining the bill over the coming weeks, while the organizers prepare the festival in cooperation with the National Health Department of the Government of Serbia. Serbia, like many other European countries, has already reopened its borders with no limits or PCR tests needed anymore, so people from all around Europe will be able to come to the festival. If by any chance there is an epidemic outbreak in some countries in August, visitors coming from that particular country will go through quick PCR tests which will be either completely free or very low priced.

Life Stream

Born out of the youth movement for peace and freedom in Serbia and Balkans, EXIT social work is as equally important as the festival itself with thousands of humanitarian and social projects realized in the last two decades. On its 20th anniversary, EXIT also continues with plans to launch its biggest environmental project to this date dubbed the LIFE STREAM. The project’s main concept is to stream shows from the festival in a new innovative way by playing additional footage with quotes and information about the unprecedented environmental crisis and other rising social issues that the whole world is facing today.

Tickets - The most popular EXIT offer 4+1 returns too!

“Buy 4, get 5”, colloquially known as the “4+1” offer is the most wanted Exit’s group offer and will be available from  Wednesday 17th June. Behind the simple 4=5 mathematics there is the idea that makes it easier for any group of friends to go to the festival. Namely, friends who buy four festival tickets at once will get the fifth EXIT ticket for free! “Buy 4, get 5” offer features a very limited number of tickets, so make sure you grab yours on time! EXIT tickets can be found at exitfest.org for just £89 | 99 € + b/f, and for those who wish to bundle them with accommodation and local transfer, there are also packages starting from 149 €.

All fans who purchased their ticket in the period before the suspension of sales will have the opportunity to decide whether they want to use their ticket for the August edition of the festival, exchange it for next year’s festival, or seek a refund in accordance with the conditions, prescribed by the Serbian Government for events delayed due to the pandemic, of which they will be notified in a timely manner.

We had the opportunity to see the stage designs of the digital festival and it will be nothing like the world has ever seen. We can’t wait!”

Armin van Buuren: Tomorrowland Around the World is a great opportunity for me to connect with my fans during these lockdown times and I hope that this will help everyone to hold on for a bit longer until we can party together on actual festival grounds again! Very delighted to be part of this ground-breaking event.”

Thanks for having me again on the Mainstage."

Amelie Lens: “I am very excited to be playing at the biggest digital festival ever. I’ve heard that hundreds of people are currently working day and night to create a never before seen experience, so I honestly cannot wait for the last weekend of July.”
