Richie Hawtin to peform new live show at EXIT Festival
Richie Hawtin, will perform his completely new and revolutionary live performance in the mts Dance Arena at EXIT on Sunday, 10 July after it's highly anticipated debut at Sonar.
The techno pioneer and icon, responsible for the popularization of electronic music and the genre’s numerous technological innovations, has been collaborating with Exit’s production team since last October on all creative and technical details, which will soon be announced on a global level. The arrival to the world famous mts Dance Arena on 9 July has also been confirmed by the British DJ sensation Hot Since 82, while the lineup for Friday 8 July has been strengthened by the artist featured on Resident Advisor’s top five, the Scottish DJ and producer Jackmaster. The next generation of popular producers will be represented by London’s club duo MANT.
Richie Hawtin is the key figure of modern electronic music, a true innovator and the one of the founders of the central techno label Minus, but also legendary Plus 8. In 2014, Hawtin resurrected his famous alter-ego Plasticman and released a new album – “EX”, which also became his first release since 2003. A true revolutionary, Hawtin is responsible for the popularization of techno music, as well as the development of tech tools used by contemporary leading DJ superstars, and has, together with the company “Allen & Heath”, recently created a new type of mixer which many believe will cause yet another revolution on the DJ scene.
Headlining on of the biggest electronic stages – Daley Padley, better known as Hot Since 82, won the hearts of the underground club scene with his debut release for “Noir Music”, with Mixmag Magazine describing his progression in the house scene as "meteoric”. Jackmaster, an unbelievably talented Scottish house producer, took the global scene by storm, and positioned himself as one of the leading DJs on a truly competitive scene, surpassing on Resident Advisor’s top list some of the biggest stars of all time. The Scottish master, whose name is inspired by the “jacking” school of Chicago-style house sound, will bring to the mts Dance Arena a colorful set, containing everything from forgotten classics to the latest club hits.mts Dance Arena’s international lineup is almost completed, with some more surprises around the corner, for its greatest edition yet! From 7 to 10 July, The Fortress will feature some of the best DJ sets by world leaders of the electronic scene: Dave Clarke, Dimitri Vegas&Like Mike, Disciples, Feder, Hernan Cattaneo b2b Henry Saiz, Hot Since 82, Jackmaster, James Zabiela, MANT, Marco Carola, Mind Against, Nicky Romero, Nina Kraviz, Richie Hawtin, Robin Shulz, Sam Feldt and Solomun.

8 Amazing Experiences To Make You Fall In Love with EXIT Festival
From a fairytale venue to parties ‘till dawn, this is why EXIT festival won so many awards. Held from 7 - 10 July, it’s nothing short of spectacular:
1.A magical venue: Petrovaradin Fortress
The fortress has that magical fairytale atmosphere that gets people hooked and relaxed. It’s arguably the best festival venue according to dozens of quotes from its top performers and global media covering Exit since its founding 16 years ago. Not only are the stages well sonically isolated, but everything is close by so you don’t have to walk that much or wait in long cues.
This Southeastern European gem is an oldie but goldie. The first cornerstone was built in 324 years ago and the fortress was upgraded over time. In its heyday, it was the central place where the Austrian-Turkish war ended, and the battle resembled a scene from the movie 300: about Austrian 76,000 troops at the fortress versus the 150,000 Turkish troops. Spoiler alert: the Austrians won.
Today, the fortress is a much calmer affair. Until those special 4 days in July arrive. About 200.000 music lovers storm its gates for the best festival experience in Europe.
There was even an episode on Ghost Hunters International that went down into the fortress’ catacombs. Spoiler alert: it’s not haunted.
2.The Iconic, Historic, Unapologetic: Dance Arena and The Sunrise
The world famous Dance Arena is hallowed ground. Waiting for the sunrise at the colossal trench is described by many as the most endorphin-inducing rush they’ve experienced ever. And that’s quite an achievement.
This is EXIT’s second biggest stage, but the passion of its diehard fans is rivaled by none. The trick with Dance Arena is that it closes last. At 8am! Yes, that's 8am! Literally, this is the last-standing stage at EXIT, where the party starts at the evening, and ends in the morning light well after the last day ended. People who love it, REALLY LOVE IT.
Dance Arena had some of the most explosive acts by world famous performers, including: Carl Cox, David Guetta, Richie Hawtin, Martin Garrix, Laurent Garnier, Underworld, Hardwell, Disclosure, Dixon, Loco Dice, Carl Craig, Green Velvet, John Digweed, Fatboy Slim, Dubfire, David Morales, Deep Dish, Chromeo…
The main acts for EXIT 2016 revealed for now are: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nina Kraviz Marco Carola, Nicky Romero, Mind Against, Robin Schulz, Solomun, Dave Clarke, Disciples...
3.Soak your feet at the campsite beach - in a good way!
The camp is located on the Danube river. That means sand beach, water mixed with generous amounts of sun in summer. Imagine waking up late in the day, getting out of your tent, and after a few steps you’re already cooling your worn-out-from-dancing feet in the smooth Danube? Yeah. It’s as good as it sounds.
4.Chilled walks at the Danube quay
Again with the Danube. But you’ll be hard pressed to find any better place to take a relaxing walk and enjoy the view of the fortress. The quay becomes electrifyingly good during EXIT, with a lot more folks walking down Novi Sad’s lush scenery. This is the best place to get a feel for Novi Sad’s locals - sit back on a bench, open up a beverage, and enjoy people-watching.
5.Cafes turn into mini-oasis during the day
When you wake up after a good night at EXIT, there are a million cafes in Novi Sad, ready to welcome you home. Coffee culture is sacrosanct in Novi Sad, and you can find a good brew anywhere. Sip on a cup in the city centre garden cafes and enjoy the cool breeze and shade.
6.Belgrade - visit the New York of the Balkans
It’s closer than you think. Belgrade is Serbia’s capital city and many reffered to it as Balkan's New York, due to its vibrant lifestyle, and with it come all the clubs, culture, and monuments. This is your best bet to visit Belgrade, since it’s only about an hour away. Plus, train returning tickets are around 4€ so that’s great too.
7.Rakija – Connecting people
Forget plain Vodka (which is made of potatoes) because you’ll fall in love with the Serbian spirits made from local fruits, called rakija. There are multiple varieties, but all promise the same: they all have a delicious scent but are as strong as a frenzied, rabid mother bear protecting her baby cubs. Drink responsibly and don't forget to intake plenty of water along.
8.EXIT on the sea (and best European beach) - Sea Dance Festival
Sea Dance festival is EXIT’s sister festival at, you guessed it, sea! Held at the breathtaking Jaz beach in Montenegro, proclaimed as the Best European Beach by the Lonely Planet, it is a long turquouise cove with plenty of sand and tiny pebbles with a Blue Flag for its fine, clean sea and all the necessary facilities. Sea Dance is a true summer festival with lots of sunshine, warm seas and the finest acts you can get. The best part? It’s included in the EXIT Magic Adventure package! You go to EXIT, have fun, then two days later hop down to Sea Dance for vacation. It’s an ideal way to spend your summer, at this one-of-a-kind festival holiday.
The EXIT Magic Adventure 2016 lineup so far includes: Ellie Goulding, Wiz Khalifa, Bastille, The Vaccines, Tinariwen, Sigma, Stormzy, Modestep DJ set, Cock Sparrer, Anti-Flag, At the Gates, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Disciples, Wilkinson DJ Set feat. MC AD-APT, Solomun, Nina Kraviz, James Zabiela, Nicky Romero, Marco Carola, Hurts, Skrillex, Zomboy, My Nu Leng, Lost Frequencies, with more acts coming up soon.

The Prodigy Join EXIT Festival Line Up
One of the most influential electronic bands in the world, The Prodigy, will perform at EXIT Festival on Sunday, 10 July! After the urgent poll to bring one of the most popular bands in the world to Serbia this summer, in which no less than 92% out of 25,000 people said “Yes!” loud and clear, reached them, the band decided to brake deadlock and added a fourth consecutive tour date during the second week of July, and allowing them to perform, in their own words, on their favorite festival! Liam, Keith and Maxim personally addressed the audience: “Exit Warriors, you wanted us and we’re coming! We are gathering at the Fortress, so be there! See you all! Peace!”
THE PRODIGY – See you at EXIT: https://youtu.be/nfEiSGU1TyU
After 25 years, The Prodigy, together with their last studio album “The Day is My Enemy”, found themselves for the sixth consecutive time in first place of UK’s top selling albums chart, an accomplishment achieved by no other band, except the Beatles. During their last tour, The Prodigy performed on almost every great festival from Australia to America, including stadiums, arenas, and the largest concert venues from Japan to Argentina. Tireless, they visited over 30 countries. They still have 15 countries left until the end of their tour and on 10 July Serbia will be one of them!

From Hungary, Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra, will bring deep rooted traditional ska spiced up with a violin to add some Hungarian flavor to the music, that is fine tuned with reggae riddims and jazzy melodies. Moreover Szitizens can enjoy the 'power gypsy dance' of Baro Drom Orkestar, Balkan dances and elektro swing with Django Lassi, traditional Balkan, gypsy, Turkish music merged with swing and jazz by The Džambo Aguševi Orchestra, pop and Afro-American rhythms with Enzo Avitable or the energies of the brass band of Fanfare Ciocarlia or even the Afro-Caribbean and folkloric music of Colombia, with contemporary rhythms and cultural styles such as hip hop, house, techno, breakbeat brought by Systema Solar.

MDRNTY launch MDRNTY+ More exclusive, more innovative, more crazy. More.
Working with his traditional partner KENT, MDRNTY launches a second version of the MDRNTY concept. More exclusive, more plugged in and even more unforgettable, MDRNTY+ is a DJ session restricted to a handful of people, in a venue very restricted in size and filmed with 360° technology to live the moment online. After a hot-air balloon flight over Zürich with Magda the queen of minimal, MDNRTY is offering a unique experience during the 2016 Festival: Thrill to Nina Kraviz, Jamie Jones and Guy Gerber live in the télécabine of the remontée des Violettes at Crans-Montana, on respectively the 8th, 9th and 10th April.
"Since its beginnings in 2009 with MDRNTY, we’ve always looked for quirky, unusual exclusive places, where we can welcome the best in electronic music" explains Maxime Léonard, the festival director. "Our success with this concept has made MDRNTY an unmissable event, wherever it takes place and one of the great attractions of the Festival. Today, with MDRNTY+, we’d like to offer to certain guests a concentrated version of what’s best about MDRNTY : the exceptional nature of the environment, the best of electronic music live and a crazy atmosphere."
The Polish artist Magda together with 15 guests have kicked off this new concept during a live session in a hot-air balloon a few hundred meters above Zürich. The whole thing filmed with 360° cameras, this MDRNTY+ first will naturally be put online on the opening day of the Caprices Festival but what’s even better, the public will be able to experience this extraordinary moment in a dedicated space thanks to a total immersion experience with virtual reality headsets. That’s how the greatest number of people will be able to share and enjoy such an exclusive moment.
Watch the amazing video of Magda djing in the hot air balloon here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4TE2sBrt18&feature=youtu.be
"Thanks to avant-garde virtual reality technology , we wanted to give everyone the chance to be in the centre of one of the most exclusive dance floors in the world" Maxime Léonard said.
A bit crazy, totally unique and exclusive. Unforgettable. 100% MDRNTY.

OFF Festival Katowice 2016: A Whole World of Music
The OFF Festival has always been home to a wide (and alternative) variety of world music, but the genre has had a special place here since 2014, when we honored the memory of Oskar Kolberg. As in years past, the Experimental Stage will devote one whole day to traditional artists: both those who cultivate that tradition and those who contest it. This year be sure to check out Odpoczno, Islam Chipsy, Ata Kak, Janusz Prusinowski Kompania, Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics, and Jambina.
Odpoczno
This isn’t going to be one of those relaxing concerts: you’re going to have trouble standing still. Get ready for passionate interpretations of folk music from the Opoczno area. While Odpoczno clearly borrow from traditional music, their creative approach adds elements such as jazz and improvisation. The quartet consists of musicians from very different backgrounds: Joanna Gancarczyk is a singer who honed her craft under the eye of village musicians; Marek Kądziela is an excellent jazz guitarist, Piotr Gwadera plays drums for L. Stadt and Mister D., while violinist Marcin Lorenc has been known to play the mazurka with the likes of Maciej Filipczuk.
Islam Chipsy
We have no idea how to describe the insane music played by Islam Chipsy and his trio EEK, but the reviewers at the world’s leading music websites can’t seem to figure it out, either. One thing is sure: hailing from Cairo’s underground music scene, this producer creates things that are absolutely unique and fascinating. Cacophonous and almost grotesque keyboard lines, frenetic drumming, and traditional Arab melodies come together on their debut album Kahraba. Expect to see more of the same — but more intense — at their live show.
Ata Kak
Were you moved by Sugarman’s story? Then get a load of this: In 1994 a certain Yaw Atta-Owusu from Ghana self-published a fascinating album titled Obaa Sima, combining dance and Afro-house with original rap. The record was released in an astounding run of 50 cassettes… and then the trail went cold. In 2002 the American collector Brian Shimkovitz bought a copy during a visit to Africa and was so enthralled with it that he started a now-famous blog (and later a label) devoted to popularizing music from that corner of the world: Awesome Tapes From Africa. Shimkovitz searched for the artist in vain until 2014, when he finally discovered that Yaw Atta-Owusa had been living in Canada, was doing find, and was ready to head out on tour. Obaa Sima was officially re-issued last year, and we’ll get to see Ata Kak this August in Katowice. It’s a small world after all…
Janusz Prusinowski Kompania
The band describes itself as the disciples and successors of village musicians, but they’re also an avant-garde act with an original sound and their own improvisational language. They speak the truth. Led by Janusz Prusinowski, the group creates original and compelling reinterpretations of folk music from central Poland: hence the enthusiastic reviews of the albums Mazurki, Serce, and Po kolana w niebie, as well as warm receptions from audiences all over the world. If you’re the kind of person who wouldn’t be caught dead dancing the mazurka, we hope to see you front and center, and we’re willing to bet you’ll give it a shot.
Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics
It’s a true honor to host at the OFF Festival one of the pioneers of Afrobeat, a veteran of African jazz, the outstanding Nigerian saxophone player Orlando Julius. His 1966 release Super Afro Soul has been credited as a main source of inspiration not just by Fela Kuti (a bandmate of Julius’s at the time!), but also by the heroes of American funk music, who borrowed wholesale from Orlando’s ideas. But get ready for more than just reminiscences at this show, because the Nigerian legend is still writing and recording. To hear what he’s been up to, check out his 2014 release Jaiede Afro.
Jambinai
We rarely get to hear any interesting music from South Korea, but if they have any other bands as brilliant and original as Jambinai, then we have some catching up to do. The creators of the dreamy yet noisy album Différance have found an entirely unique way of combining their country’s musical heritage — also expressed through the use of traditional Korean instruments — with the apocalyptic force of post rock. This is going to keep you up at night.
Other additions to the festival line-up include:
Goat
Goat (the one from Japan, this time) features a lineup that’s guaranteed to leave you trembling. An electric guitar, saxophone, bass, and drums are always a sure sign of noise, and this band is no different. Just know that Goat likes to shape its noise into seductive, trance-inducing patterns. All of this makes Koshior Hino’s compositions at once urban and tribal.
Jenny Hval
Jenny Hval has conjured up quite an extraordinary world. Music this intimate, personal, and rich is a rare find indeed, but the sheer talent displayed by the Norwegian artist is all the more unique. No wonder she’s managed to pull some famous names into her sphere of musical hallucinations, including Jaga Jazzist’s Øystein Moen and Thor Harris of Swans. Her career began to pick up steam following the release of the album Innocence is Kinky (Rune Grammofon), while the record Apocalypse, girl merely cemented her standing among Scandinavia’s leading visionaries.
OFF Festival Katowice 2016 line-up (announced so far):
Devendra Banhart, Anohni, The Kills, Mudhoney, GZA, Lush, GusGus, Thundercat, Minor Victories, Kiasmos, Napalm Death, Jaga Jazzist, SBB plays „Nowy Horyzont“, Sleaford Mods, DJ Koze, Zomby, Lightning Bolt, Andrew Weatherall b2b Roman Flügel, Brodka, Kaliber 44, Orlando Julius & the Heliocentrics, Liima, Daniel Avery, Clutch, Mutoid Man, Powell, Zimpel/Ziołek, Basia Bulat, Janusz Prusinowski Kompania, Syny, Beach Slang, Willis Earl Beal, Jenny Hval, Flatbush Zombies, Machinedrum, Yung Lean, Mass Gothic, Jambinai, Islam Chipsy, Show Me The Body, Ata Kak, Goat, Fidlar, Odpoczno, Rosa Vertov.
