TIM SWEENEY AT BILBAO BBK LIVE
Starting off the list is Tim Sweeney, a true selector. One of the rare DJs who is known only for selecting as opposed to producing music of his own, he’s been hosting his famous “Beats in Space” show since he was a student at NYU in 1999. This year he’s in charge of making the crowd dance at Bilbao BBK Live. Set atop the Kobetamendi Hill with breathtaking views across culture-rich Bilbao, the 2016 edition of Bilbao BBK Live will showcase acts including Arcade Fire, Pixies, Foals, New Order, Underworld, Tame Impala, Four Tet, Erol Alkan, Ame, Red Axes, M83, Years & Years, Hot Chip, Wolf Alice, Courtney Barnett, Soulwax & more. SECRETSUNDAZE AT ELECTRIC ELEPHANT
Secretsundaze (Giles Smith & James Priestley) have been dominating dancefloors for over 15 years, with their London party series of the same name having firmly established itself as one of Europe’s most distinct voices in underground electronic music. Renowned worldwide for their impeccable selection skills, the duo have toured extensively, performing at some of the world’s most influential clubs such as the Robert Johnson, Output, Fabric, Space, Panorama Bar, The Rex and Trouw to name just a few. Don’t miss them at Croatia’s Electric Elephant Festival this summer, where they will perform twice, including a Secretsundaze Boat Party with Brooklyn’s finest DJ duo Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter a.k.a.”Mister Saturday Night”. SARAH FARINA AT EXIT FESTIVAL
Sarah Farina blends bass-heavy footwork and futuristic beats effortlessly with UK funk and R’n’B grooves, bringing some of the best vibes to Berlin’s clubs and beyond. Her eclectic style should go over well at Exit Festival, which mixes indie rockers like Bastille and The Vaccines with some of the biggest names in techno and electronic music such as Dimitri Vegas, Dave Clarke, Marco Carola and Nina Kraviz. DJ KOZE AT OFF FESTIVAL
Where to even begin with Koze? Legendary mixer, producer and contributor to the DJ Kicks series – Koze always stays true to his commitment to out-there, bordering on weird sampling techniques and productions. His release “XTC” was voted #5 on Resident Advisor’s “Best tracks of 2015” list. Seeing as he has roots in the Hip Hop scene, he will fit brilliantly into OFF Festival’s mix of other artists such as Flatbush Zombies and grindcore legends Napalm Death. &ME AT SZIGET
Part of the charming Berlin-based Keinemusik collective, &ME is a local hero and club kid favorite. His musical selections will please those with a soft spot for deep house with soulful vocals. At Sziget he’s sharing the bill with some of the biggest names in music, with heavy hitters like Rihanna, Noel Gallagher, Muse, Sia, Jake Bugg, Bloc Party, Chvrches and The Last Shadow Puppets. MIDLAND AT WOODED
Since coming up in 2010, Harry Agius aka Midland has delighted dancefloors with a flirtatious mix of techno, disco and UK sounds, quickly making him one of Britain’s most beloved selectors. He’s also hilarious on Twitter. This year he’ll be bringing his record collection to WOODED, the festival founded by Polish DJ duo Catz ‘N Dogz at the stunning imperial castle CK Zamek in Wrocław. STUDIO BARNHUS AT MYSTERYLAND
Stockholm’s Studio Barnhus founders Axel Boman, Kornel Kovacs and Pedrodollar will perform together as Barnhus at this year’s Mysteryland festival in The Netherlands! Amongst them they’ve clocked up releases on Pampa, Border Community, Numbers and Smallville, winning a legion of fans along the way. The enigmatic trio behind the turntables at Mysteryland is sure to be a festival highlight. With over 346 acts, criss-crossing house, techno, disco, African beats, vinyl-only, hardstyle, hip hop and feel-good bands, there’s something for every electronic music fan at Mysteryland. YOUNG MARCO AT WECANDANCE
Amsterdam-based DJ and certified dude Young Marco hops over to the neighboring country of Belgium for WECANDANCE. In Zeebrugge he joins DJ Tennis, Eduardo Castillo, Jamie Jones, Maribou State, Recondite, Roy Davis Jr, Pachanga Boys, Vaal and more. Food, Art and Fashion are also a big part of the #WCD16 experience, with an international range of signature dishes developed by premium restaurants and chefs, expert mixologists and roaming sommeliers, plus Belgium’s rising fashion stars and impressive art installations from some of Belgium’s most respected artists. OBJEKT AT OASIS
Objekt is one of the most technically skilled DJs out there. His performances at Boiler Room in Berlin and at Dekmantel demonstrate his ease behind the decks wonderfully. Creating only the best of vibes on the dancefloor, he’s a club favorite in his adopted city Berlin and beyond. This year, he’ll join the likes of Bicep, B.Traits, David August, Dixon, Derrick May, Dubfire, Helena Hauff, Hunee, Job Jobse, Tale Of Us, The Black Madonna and Virginia at Morocco’s Oasis, one of the most exciting festivals for enthusiasts of the art of DJing.
