SUPERBLOOM creates a magical weekend in Munich’s Olympic Park to sold out audience of 50,000 enthusiastic fans

 

As the second edition of SUPERBOOM comes to an end with a spectacular show from superstars Imagine Dragons, 50,000 festival fans came together to enjoy a weekend of international and national stars, impressive art installations, live podcasts, panels on important social issues, but also moments of relaxing enjoyment and experience. Free, inclusive, and multi-faceted: SUPERBLOOM sets new standards in the festival landscape in southern Germany and beyond.

 

After last year’s spectacular premiere, the second edition of the major event was again a complete success with a nearly sold-out Saturday and a sold-out Sunday: 50,000 visitors* celebrated and enjoyed a weekend with perfect weather conditions and magical moments.

Early on Saturday morning, many fans gathered in front of the stages of Paula Hartmann and Baby B3ns. Festival goers enjoyed the warm rays of the sun and the great music of the acts that opened the festival, moving to the sounds of international top acts from the DJ superstar Martin Garrix, the British singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding, the all-round talent Olly aka Years & Years to German stars like Kontra K, the rap artist Badmómzjay and the shooting stars of Jeremias. The line-up of the first day left nothing to be desired and offered a diverse mix of artists from different genres. But not only the big stars and stages caused enthusiasm. Everywhere in the Olympic Park there was something to discover. Magical moments with performance artists all over the festival site, sporty rave aerobics, or relaxing yoga. Whether comedy, contemporary art, or live podcasts: At SUPERBLOOM, visitors experienced culture in every conceivable form and color. 

Fruzsina Szép, festival director and creative force behind the festival, was delighted with another successful weekend: “SUPERBLOOM Festival is a place where diversity, inclusion and passion for music are celebrated, and we are proud to share this experience with our great visitors for the second year.”

On Sunday morning, Munich’s Ennio delivered an impressive start with his unmistakable voice. “Frisian boy” Ski Aggu made the packed the Olympic Stadium quake in the form of dancing and pogoing. Shooting star Mayberg ensured melting hearts on all sides at the Superstage. The audience enjoyed energetic performances by chart-topper Ava Max and Swedish singer Zara Larsson. Superstar Jason Derulo hypnotized the masses with his inimitable stage presence, while Marteria encouraged fans to rap along with songs like “Lila Wolken”. The absolute top stars from the USA Imagine Dragons formed the conclusion. No matter if “Believer”, “Thunder” or “Radioactive”, the Munich audience proved to be confident with their lyrics and celebrated a worthy and spectacular festival ending with singer Dan Reynolds, who addressed many personal words to the Munich audience. 

In addition to the musical highlights, the diverse programme also contributed significantly to the festival’s success. From journalist, human rights activist, and social entrepreneur Düzen Tekkal to the entertaining pop culture podcast “Tratsch und Tacheles” with the charming presenters Hadnet Tesfai and Tarik Tesfu, who were accompanied by the talented singer and songwriter Celina Bostic or the award-winning comedian Dizzy Comedy, who delighted the audience with his humor, everything was on offer. In addition, many other artists* and podcasters* were also part of the colorful line-up.

The experience areas like Art Bloom, Your Planet, Mini Bloom and DISTRICT 4 offered a feast for all senses. There was something to discover, experience, or interact with at every turn. With numerous up-and-coming music stars, exciting hands-on experiments, and numerous small and large climaxes, SUPERBLOOM convincingly illustrated the diversity of live entertainment. In addition to all these exciting experiences, it was also the magical moments that made the festival unique in its form. Whether it was the performance of the band Blumengarten on The Hideaway stage or the many walking acts with their breathtaking costumes and set-ups: In its second year, SUPERBLOOM underpinned its claim to be one of the most multi-faceted festivals in Europe.

The date for next year is also revealed: SUPERBLOOM Festival 2024 is scheduled for September 7th and 8th. The presale for the Early Bird tickets starts on Monday, September 4th, 2023. All information can be found at www.superbloom.de.
