Dan & Phil – BBC Radio 1, Kissy Sell Out – Pioneer Radio, Normski – Hoxton FM and more!|
In just over 2 weeks some of the UK’s best radio talent will head to Zurich to broadcast their radio shows LIVE from Schloss Sihlberg castle from 4 – 8 September alongside other radio jockeys from all corners of the world giving people visiting the festival, their listeners back home, and online around the world, the rare opportunity to “Listen to how the World Sounds”.
Dan & Phil – Radio One
It doesn’t bear repeating, but BBC Radio ONE, the national broadcaster in the UK, is simply the best radio station in the world. It’s a big moment for the IRF to be the only radio festival in the world to welcome this giant, and for the second time at that! And with Dan Howell and Phil Lester BBC Radio One sends us their latest superstars, the currently most creative, most innovative and most hip programme maker duo.
At the beginning of this year their show “Dan and Phil” went on air. A totally revolutionary, interactive, multimedia show, which happens simultaneously on the web and on the airwaves. The two young youtube heroes present home-made videos sent in by listeners, interview like minded maniacs via Skype and make fun of everything and everybody; and as Brits, as a matter of course, also of themselves. How good are they?: well Howell and Lester were voted UK’s favourite radio presenters by Sony Radio Academy Awards. Kissy Sell Out – Pioneer DJ Radio
Since last year, when Pioneer DJ Radio introduced itself at the IRF as a brand new web station, it became one of the most substantial opinion leaders of club culture. Their programme includes live broadcasts from happening clubs, label showcases and mixes/shows by the most popular DJs of the world.
For example Pioneer DJ Radio most recently launched “Kissy Klub“. This is the programme that gained Thomas „Kissy Sell Out“ Bisdee a committed worldwide following in no time! He was the first radio host to interview Skrillex and to broadcast the first Lady Gaga record over national airwaves. And when he simultaneously works the four Pioneer CDJ 2000 nexus decks (which he helped to develop) you almost won’t believe your ears, let alone your eyes. Mixmag described him as “one of the most exciting, charismatic and entertaining DJs of the decade”. More info here: http://www.internationalradiofestival.com/pioneer-dj-radio-feat-kissy-sell-out/
Normski – Hoxton FM
The underground of London’s East End has a new voice. Since 2011 Hoxton FM is the new playground for young and talented DJs, and prestigious veterans of electronic music. “The Show London” is a weekly report from London’s creative scene with interviews and coverage of fashion, art and culture; and naturally including a lot of wicked music, which you can’t hear like this anywhere else in the world.
The program is hosted by radio luminary Normski (he was the official voice of last year’s IRF) and Dan Formless (one of the three founders of Hoxton FM) always live from the Vibe Bar on Brick Lane welcoming guests, listeners and patrons to share the music, art, fashion and culture that inspires them. We’re anxious to hear what they have in store for us at this year’s IRF. More info here: http://www.internationalradiofestival.com/hoxton-fm-london/
