AMSTERDAM DANCE EVENT ANNOUNCES 2017 DATES

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s leading event for electronic music, will take place from the 18th to 22nd of October, 2017. The organisers are expecting around 375,000 national and international visitors for the 22nd edition.

ADE, an initiative of Buma, is the world’s largest club-based festival and conference for electronic music. The event continues to grow and develop each year, with last year’s edition featuring over 2,200 artists and 550 speakers in a record-breaking 140 venues.

“Amsterdam is the centre of the global electronic music scene during ADE, a hotbed for cultural and technological innovation. It’s amazing to see that thousands of delegates and music enthusiasts are spending more and more time in the city each year,” says ADE director Richard Zijlma.

Alongside the night program, the extensive daytime program has also been expanding year on year, and the organisers are committed to growing the day and nighttime activities once again in 2017 by creating more partnerships with both new and established cultural institutions as well as new partners.

International expansion
ADE is taking its activities abroad once again in 2017, with an extensive program in Mumbai, India and showcases at SXSW, in Austin, USA.

From 23rd to 25th February, ADE Global Sessions Mumbai will host interactive Q&As with top artists, exclusive industry discussions, networking and speed dating sessions, strategy meetings, master classes and much more as part of ADE's on-going commitment to connect dance culture worldwide. ADE will also co-present India's Biggest Guestlist Club Festival, which takes place on the same dates.

In addition, ADE will once again be bringing stand-out electronic talent from The Netherlands to one of the busiest and largest showcase events in the world, presenting a selection of ADE showcases at South by Southwest (SXSW) in March.

Comments Zijlma: “The Dutch creative industry has a strong global reputation, and represents an (export) value of billions, partly thanks to the dance scene. Through our international activities we intend to increase that value and create a springboard for Dutch talent.”

2017 Travel Trends - Transformational Festivals

Over recent years, the global festival scene has seen a growth in counterculture festivals that are built around community-building, personal growth, social responsibility, sustainability and healthy living. Music is often at the heart of these festivals, however they also offer an array of alternative activities, such as yoga, meditation, dance and inspiring talks and seminars. One such 'transformational festival' is Costa Rica’s Envision Festival . Founded in 2011 with just 500 people on a small plot of land in the laid-back beach town of Dominical, Envision has blossomed into an internationally acclaimed community gathering, attracting around 5,000 attendees every year. Days are bursting with art, spirituality, yoga, education and sustainability, whilst nights are committed to celebrating humanity through music, dance and performance, all in the name of connecting with nature, our planet and its inhabitants.

Diverse blend of musical genres
With the goal of creating a festival that represents a harmonious blend of many different cultures, the musical acts hail from around the world, representing a diverse assortment of musical genres. From ethereal house beats to deep, sultry grooves, to global bass, reggae, glitch hop and live performances, Envision unites musicians from across the world to join together under the majestic Costa Rica skies for an unforgettable experience.

Headlining acts include a rare Central American performance by the legendary Opiuo, and Chicago live dance music trio Autograf. The soulful sisters of Rising Appalachia are confirmed to serenade the Sol Stage with their unique voices and justice seeking lyrics. Canadian duo Blond:ish, known for their deep house and techno tracks, and Berlin underground legend Acid Pauli, renowned for his ultra-eclectic marathon sets also join the bill, along with Georgia-born Zach Deputy, who will be performing his beloved reggae/funk/soul fusion jams. South Africa’s world-famous electronic duo, Goldfish, space rock performer Papadosio, the deeply rhythmic Ecuadorian DJ Nicola Cruz, and the incredibly immersing Govinda also star. Colombia’s Systema Solar promise to shake the trees with their Colombian Elegancia Tropical vibes and Random Rab is set to deliver another crowd-pleasing sunrise set in the jungle. The inside tip from the events producers is to look out for some of their personal favorite “up and coming producers”, CharlestheFirst, Clozee, Goopsteppa & Tryptich and unforgettable sunrise sets from Of Porcelain & Frameworks. Musical acts are accompanied on stage by awe-inspiring performers, fire dancers, and aerialists - adding to the extraordinarily magical ambiance that envelops the lush tropical jungle landscape.

Yoga and movement
Envision’s emphasis on creating a platform for various cultures to coexist in a sustainable community resonates throughout the entire event as is evident in the yoga and movement village, which features an inspiring lineup of top yoga instructors, speakers, and educators. This includes revered instructor and founder of the Goddess Yoga Project Sianna Sherman, The Bridge Practice founder Kevin Courtney and music and dance-inspired Amber Ryan, founder of Kids in Motion Nosara and The Sacred Arts Space. Practice elevating instruction from Envision Yoga Program Director, former adidas Global Yoga Trainer and co-founder of The Avahana School of Yoga, Ashleigh Sergeant and Christopher “Hareesh” Wallis, tantrik and yogic studies scholar are also on the programme for 2017, along with the incredible Hoopalicious hosting a Hoop Dance workshop.

Inspiring talks and workshops
To accompany this incredible musical and yoga line-up is an inspiring group of individuals set to present an array of insightful talks and workshops. These include John Perkins, the author of Confessions of an Economic Hitman, Burning Man Founders Crimson Rose and Will Roger Peterson, environmental superstar Summer Rayne Oakes and Erin Schrode, the youngest woman to ever run for US Congress. Other creative speakers hosting talks and workshops include Leah Song & Chloe Smith of Rising Appalachia, who will be leading a “Global Song” workshop and Kip Andersen, the writer of the environmental documentary Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret.

Envision is a true festival of the future, encompassing a cultural movement, a regenerative permaculture movement, a spiritual gathering, and an appreciation of humanity and the planet.

“I believe that by gathering in community out in nature, we create a rare opportunity for individuals to observe their value systems and inherent human motivations from a new or alternative perspective that is free of social conditioning. At a successful event, participants capture this moment and create from it a forever lasting positive impression." - says Matt Siegel, co-founder of Envision.

If you haven’t already observed the beautiful environment and enchanting wonderment from the 2016 gathering, take a look at the official aftermovie HERE. The unique Costa Rican backdrop of Envision provides a plethora of assorted opportunities for the adventurous traveler. Enjoy surfing at sunset, trek to magnificent waterfalls, and camp in the lush jungles of the tropical landscape. Envision is the ultimate adventure for living life differently in community.
