Soulwax, 2manydjs, Blood Red Shoes and more join the lineup for Bilbao BBK Live 2016

Bilbao BBK Live are excited to welcome electro legends Soulwax, 2manydjs, Brighton duo Blood Red Shoes, singer-songwriter Little Scream, and Leon Benavente to their already jam-packed 2016 lineup.

Since the 90’s few groups have had as big an impact on electro as Belgian pioneers Soulwax. Whether it’s the infectious dance punk provided by them when in full band or the Dewaele brothers’ expert DJing under their 2manydjs moniker they are rightly a go to act for everything from huge remixes to even huger festival slots. Bilbao BBK Live proudly welcomes both iterations of the group to this year's lineup and with Soulwax having released their first LP in seven years last month and 2manydjs' seemingly bottomless record bag in typically great form, both acts are unmissable additions to the festival.

As Blood Red Shoes, the duo of Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell are responsible for some of the most vital and dynamic indie rock of the last decade. With a new album on the horizon their stomping two-pronged guitar and drum attack is not to be missed at this year’s festival.

Laurel Sprengelmeyer, better known by her stage name Little Scream has become one of the key figures in Montreal’s indie music scene and received praise from the likes of Arcade Fire’s Richard Parry who went on to co-produce her debut album ‘The Golden Record’ in 2011. Having just joined Merge Records, if new singles ‘Love as a Weapon’ and ‘Someone Will Notice’ are anything to go by, her new LP on the way for 2016 is certainly going to be worth the wait and we’re thrilled to have her on board for this years festival.

Also joining the lineup are Spanish supergroup Leon Benavente and with their second album ‘2’ due for release in April, Bilbao BBK Live are excited for their show for 2016!

Set upon the stunning Kobetamendi Hill Bilbao BBK Live combines breathtaking views across the city and beautiful, golden, sandy beaches, with some of the best and most exciting artists worldwide. The 2016 edition is set to be the festival's biggest and best year to date offering the perfect holiday-festival fusion. Tickets, priced at £93.00 + bf are available now at www.bilbaobbklive.com.

Techno titans Marco Carola and Dave Clarke join the EXIT Festival Line up

The global ambassador of techno Marco Carola will perform on EXIT Dance Arena on the final festival night, Sunday 10th July! Carola is coming back to the Petrovaradin Fortress five years after his last, already legendary set that left the audience breathless with the first morning light on the Arena. Known for his impressive three-deck style of mixing, Marco has remained one of the most in demand DJs on the planet throughout the last two decades. The same night, Carola will be joined at Exit with the “Techno Baron” Dave Clarke, one of the greatest innovators and mix masters, and among the world leaders in electronic music. The English virtuoso conquered the Arena almost ten years ago, and many still remember his morning set, and the “Star Wars” theme mixed into some furious techno!

Marco Carola led the labels Design Music, Zenit, Question, One Thousands and Do.Mi.No, at the same time releasing music with some of the world’s best record companies – Minus, Plus 8, 2M and Primate. After five albums that were met with amazing reactions from critics, and fans alike, including his last “Play it Loud”, Marco was also responsible for a number of momentous compilations, as was his mix for the London club Fabric. Founded as a requirement allowing Carola to expand his musical world, and create a home for upcoming, talented and inspired artists, the record company “Music On” is recognized today as one of the most visited night club spectacles on Ibiza.

Dave Clarke is a DJ with an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul. Now based in Amsterdam, influential techno and electro icon Clarke has been synonymous with an abrasive, full throttle brand of electronic music that he has showcased across hundreds of EPs, compilations and albums since the early nineties. Also a celebrated radio pioneer who helms his own long running White Noise show Clarke also relentlessly performs across the planet.

As well as Djing Clarke has released nine mix albums, among which are releases for Fabric, Fuse, and I Love Techno, Clarke was the number one remix choice for numerous performers like Depeche Mode, Leftfield, Chicks On Speed, The Chemical Brothers and Placebo. A selection of these remixes have been put together under the title ‘Charcoal Eyes’ and will be released via News Records in April 2016.

Tame Impala, Grimes, Chvrches, Slaves, Jagwar Ma and more join lineup for Bilbao BBK Live 2016.

With a lineup already fit to burst with some of the biggest bands on the planet,  Bilbao BBK Live welcomes Australian five piece Tame Impala, boundary defying queen of pop Grimes, Chvrches, Slaves, Jagwar Ma, Inheaven and Love of Lesbian to the lineup for 2016. They join Arcade Fire, Pixies, Foals, M83, New Order, Hot Chip, Years & Years, Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett, Wolf Alice and many more.

Co-headlining with Foals are Aussie psych rockers Tame Impala. The release of Kevin Parker & co’s third studio album ‘Currents’ was met with widespread critical acclaim in 2015, with chart topping hits ‘Let It Happen’ and ‘Cause I’m A Man’ cementing their place amongst the best albums of the year. Mixing modern psych and lush synths, the album marked the start of a new chapter of the band which sees them graduating to true festival headliners.

With last year’s incredible ‘Art Angels’ proving to be one of the most widely regarded albums of the year, Grimes aka Claire Boucher is an artist that continues to build on her sound and legacy. Embracing saccharine pop and honing her sound to create some of last year’s catchiest tunes, hers is a star that continues to rise and promises to provide one of the standout sets of the festival.

Following up debut LP ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ was never going to be an easy task but Chvrches stepped up to the plate with one of the finest sophomore releases of recent memory in ‘Every Open Eye’. The band’s anthemic electronica and the distinctive Scottish brogue of singer Lauren Mayberry create a sound that is entirely their own.

Rowdy punk two piece Slaves were one of the most unlikely breakout hits of 2015. Rarely does anything so visceral and vital break out from the underground but with major label debut ‘Are You Satisfied’ the duo launched themselves into the public consciousness with a string of hits and a live show of unparalleled energy.

Jagwar Ma’s mix of psychedelia and alternative dance music has positioned them as one of the most individual bands on the planet. Hailing from Sydney, Australia the three piece have garnered praise from everyone from Noel Gallagher to The XX.

With an early thumbs up from legendary Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, Inheaven were rightly tipped for big things from the get go. Having released their debut single ‘Regeneration’ on the indie hero’s Cult Records the band’s atmospheric brand of 80s-indebted indie rock brings to mind greats like The Jesus And Mary Chain.

Catalonian alternative pop band Love Of Lesbian also join the lineup. The band formed back in 1997 and cut their teeth supporting the likes of goth pioneers The Cure. Now stars in their own right having topped the Spanish charts with 2012 album ‘La noche eterna. Los días no vividos’, Bilbao BBK Live welcomes them to the festival for 2016.

Set upon the Kobetamendi Hill with stunning views across the city and inviting, golden, sandy beaches, 2016 is certain to be a standout year for Bilbao BBK Live. Boasting an already jam-packed musical lineup showcasing some of the most exciting new talent and well-regarded artists worldwide and with more exciting names still to be announced, its 40,000 strong army of visitors will not be disappointed.
