As the 2013 line-up nears completion we reveal an exclusive Babyshambles show in Ferropolis plus more acts announced
The countdown is on, with less than two months to go before we can dance beneath the giant mirror balls and industrial diggers in the City of Iron once again. Taking place from 19-21 July, Germany’s Melt! Festival is set to play host to one of the biggest line-ups to date. Acts already announced include The Knife, Atoms For Peace, Azealia Banks, DIIV, James Blake, Alt-J, Chvrches, Disclosure and iamamiwhoami. And today, we reveal another wave of acts set to light up the stage.
First up, Babyshambles! Six years after Shotter’s Nation, the UK band, fronted by Peter Doherty, are back with their much-anticipated third album. At Melt! Festival, Babyshambles will be performing brand-new material for the first time.
Maceo Plex is also confirmed to play, getting behind the DJ booth at the famous Big Wheel Stage. Renowned for his funk-laden grooves and low-slung house beats, the Valencia based producer is the creator of huge dancefloor hits like “Vibe Your Love, “Can’t Leave You” and “Your Style”. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the Ferropolis crowd this year.
The next act was a personal recommendation from Atoms For Peace frontman Thom Yorke. We can’t think of a better endorsement than that! So, we added the wonderful Owiny Sigoma Band to our line-up. Their unique sound showcases a clash of traditional Kenyan styles and contemporary British electronica. With plaudits galore for their second album Power Punch!!!, we’re confident we are in for a mind-blowing live show.
Karocel, the joint live project of Marbert Rocel, Mathias Kaden and Michael Nagler, will also play songs from their recently released debut album Plaited. And finally, Manamana complete Groove magazine’s Sleepless Floor special with Motor City Drum Ensemble, Alex.Do and Henning Baer.
The line-up is almost complete! Watch out for one final announcement very very soon. Tickets for Melt! Festival are available under the following link.
