KaZantip Republic invites you to step into their extraordinary world from 31st July – 15th August 2012 to celebrate the Republic’s 20th year of existence. Taking place on the beautiful Crimean Black Sea coast near Popovka, Ukraine, KaZantip is home to musical beat hunters, adventurous bronzed fun-seekers, unbelievable architectural structures and breathtaking light & sound. Electronic music is the lifeblood of the beating heart of the KaZantip Republic. World class DJs and producers descend on the Republic each year, fuelling the sensational sights and sounds as the republicans dance in the sea, on the sand, beneath the sun and under the stars.

The magic begins on July 31 when the gates to KaZantip Republic open for another year. Republicans can gather for ‘New Year Holidays’ in the build up to the Official Opening Party. The Opening Party, or Apotheosis as it named this year, takes place on August 04, beginning a week of musical celebrations with back to back electronic music from the leading names of the electronic music scene. Making their KaZantip debut this year, with their incredible live show, is Icelandic trio Gus Gus. The inimitable Miss Kittin will also step up for her first appearance at Kazantip, bringing her trademark electro-tinged house and techno and intuitive sense of selection to the dancefloor. They will be joined by an impressive raft of KaZantip newcomers that includes techno stalwart Kenny Larkin, one off the most recognised names from the Detroit scene and London beatsmith George Fitzgerald, without doubt one of the biggest breakthrough producers of the year. Across the week, republicans will also be treated to performances from acts including Tiga, ,Laurent Garnier, Heidi, Sasha, Tiefschwarz, Danny Howells, Echonomist, Layo & Bushwacka, Paul Woolford, Tania Vulcano, Stanton Warriors and Technasia as well as welcoming back Kazantip friends and favourites, including James Zabiela, Funk D’void, M.A.N.D.Y.,Audiofly,  Booka Shade, Robert Babicz, Serge Devant and more. With more names still to be announced the 20th edition is set to be bigger and better than ever!

‘Live on Mars’ also returns for 2012, taking over the Faberge dance floor and showcasing an impressive selection of live artists from August 02 –10, including upcoming Danish act Vinnie Who, Israeli collective Terry Poision and the UK’s Killaflaw. The simple formula that proved itself during Z19 is “a gig before a club night” with the Live on Mars floor kicking off proceedings each day earlier than the other dance floors. As the knobs and faders on the dance floors just start to move up, the Live on Mars artists will already be blessing the ears and eyes of the Great People of the Republic.

KAZANTIP Z GAMES

After the Closing Party it’s time for the music to take a bak seat as we look forward to the KaZantip Z-Games which commence on August 12. Sport is an integral part of Kazantip, its core, spirit and tradition. From the very beginnings of Kazantip riding the waves has been at the centre of the celebrations and Kite Surfing is the national sport of the republic. Z-Games is the revival of traditions and return to the origins. From 12 to 19 August in the “Mars” sector the leading kiteboarders of Russia and Ukraine will gather to reunite in freestyle and course-race. This will be the first joint competition of the two countries in the Open stage of Cup of Russia. More than 100 athletes will compete for winners’ prizes in men’s and women’s championships. In addition to this, there will be workshops for those who have never tried to kite, so Z-Games is not just an event for professionals, but also a dream- come-true event for amateurs. On top of all of that you can also enjoy Laurent’s Garnier infamous LBS performance on 17 of August.

2012 is a Landmark in Kazantip’s history and The Government of the Republic is preparing a lot of surprises for its citizens, each intended to make one’s stay absolutely unforgettable. With over 6 dance floors, 30 bars and restaurants, 2 open air cinema halls, 3 kitesurfing stations and various weird architectural structures, all fitted with incredible light and sound, not to mention an unrivalled energy from the republicans themselves, the 20th anniversary is set to be nothing short of spectacular.
