After three days and celebrated performances by Justice, Bloc Party, Gossip, Two Door Cinema Club, Modeselektor and many more, the 15th edition of Melt! Festival came to a successful close.

This year’s Melt! Festival successful anniversary came to a close on Sunday night. Once again, 20,000 visitors came to the “City of Iron“ to celebrate more than 130 acts and DJs under the sparkling mirrorballs of Ferropolis. More than a third of all festivalgoers came to Ferropolis from abroad turning to 15th edition of Melt! into a peaceful, successful and truly international event. The last few festival tickets were sold at the beginning of May, which makes the festival’s anniversary the fastest selling Melt! ever.

On Friday, the stages saw memorable performances by Bloc Party, who celebrated their return to the stage with brand-new songs, Caribou, BOY, The Raveonettes, M83, Rufus Wainwright, Mouse on Mars and Plan B, who made up for his cancelled 2011 performances, as well as DJ sets by John Talabot and David August at the Big Wheel Stage.

Saturday’s main stage performances included Modeselektor, Two Door Cinema Club and Gossip. Gossip singer Beth Ditto even declared Melt! to be her favourite European festival in front of a cheering crowd. Thees Uhlmann and Superpunk, on the other hand, drew the audience to the Intro Tent where Schluck den Druck played the festival for the first time after having entertained the crowd at the campsite for years.

On Sunday, Lana Del Rey, Zola Jesus, The Whitest Boy Alive and Richie Hawtin performed in front of a euphoric crowd in addition to a smashing showdown during Justice’s set.

In 2012, various fringe events, projects and co-operations added to the stage performances. At Intro Kneipe, several book readings and film screenings were an inviting change. With a sold out hotel train, the Kreidler Morgen Melt! bike disco and various NGOs on location, M!ECO, Melt! Festival’s environmental project, was continued in 2012 as well. In addition, 14 out of 29 vendors offered regional or vegetarian/vegan dishes. All of them were labeled as such with a “greener partner” sticker.

Melt! Festival’s head of booking, Stefan Lehmkuhl, shares his positive views: “We achieved our goal to keep the Melt! Festival’s high standards throughout the weekend. In regards to our line-up as well as the international crowd, our annivesary edition was breaking boundaries once again. Our goal for the following year will be to accommodate our festivalgoers wish list as well as our own.”

In 2013, Melt! Festival will be held from 19th to 21st July and tickets are already on sale HERE. See you next year!
