birdsIbiza’s Café del Mar legend Jose Padilla, Sir Norman Jay, Eglo, No Fakin, PillowTalk and Yesking join the impressive bill for 2012

Summer time feels well and truly around the corner now; the clocks have gone forward, it’s getting sunnier and the prospect of this year’s Garden Festival is growing that little bit closer day by day. The new site at The Garden Tisno is starting to take shape and will be in full resplendent form for early July. Gardeners from all over the world – last year there were 36 different nationalities at The Garden – will flock to this idyllic week-long sojourn to dance under the sun and stars, to a site nestled by crystal clear Adriatic waters on the beautiful Dalmatian coastline.

New special guest and Ibiza institution Jose Padilla will bring his ambient Balearic love to The Garden. The longest serving resident at the legendary Café del Mar bar on the island, from 1975 Jose helped spread electronic chill-out music across the world as Ibiza’s popularity began to grow. The Spanish producer and DJ will be setting the tone for the hot sun-kissed days and stunning sunsets which grace Croatia almost every day; expect blissful chilled vibes from this true master at The Garden. There’s a very warm welcome for the return of Sir Norman Jay, whose infamous HMS Goodtimes is arguably the most popular Argonaughty boat party bar none. This is a brand new addition to the boat schedule, departing 10.30am on Monday 9th July, so get tickets quick as they will sell out fast!

The main stage will play host to a series of great bands and live performers. As well as Nicolas Jaar, Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Soundsystem and Tiger and Woods all playing live, further guests at The Garden Festival include inspiring downtempo jazz from Eglo Live feat Fatima & Olivier Day Soul, Yesking’s eclectic fusion of styles from hip hop to dancehall to ragga and ska, and PillowTalk’s blend of classic R&B, boogie and disco, spliced with underground house and techno. There’s also Free School’s riotous electro, house, Balearic, and Kosmiche, and Garden regulars and Liverpool stars No Fakin’ bring their turntable skills to the main stage too. And don’t forget the amazing array of DJ talent on offer too, including Kenny Dope, Metro Area’s Darshan, Ben UFO, Greg Wilson, David August, Solomun, Space Dimension Controller, Prosumer, Waifs and Strays and many more.

The new festival site at Tisno is an undiscovered musical paradise which fits right within the Garden Festival’s esteemed and revered ethos, where the emphasis is always on an unparalleled experience combining festival and holiday vibes seamlessly as one. The new site has its very own village, featuring 80 on-site apartments which can hold 300 people, as well as 30 Indian Shikar tents with electric fans and lighting, proper beds, mosquito nets, dressing room and porch area. There are also 120 pitches for people bringing their own tents, totalling 700 berths in total on site. The Garden Tisno is set in a gently hilly area which overlooks the festival’s very own beautiful bay below, complete with sandy beach and crystal clear water. Tisno – split between the mainland and the island of Murter, joined by a 20m rising bridge – is just a ten-minute walk away, is a charming picture-perfect town with a host of restaurants, cafes, apartments and small boutique hotels. Pristine national parks, secluded beaches and hundreds of islands are close by, with Croatia an easy country to travel around and explore its many wonders. Tisno is situated pretty much right between Zadar and Split airports, with lots of flights from Europe to each. Keep checking for deals to Croatia from Europe on airlines including Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, Wizz Air, German Wings and Croatia Airlines, as routes have now been released and there are some bargains to be had. See you in the sun!
